Tom & Katie Are Hot
We know it’s chic to hate on TomKat, but we’re too cool to jump on that bandwagon.
We adore Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes in spite of (and maybe a little bit because of) their otherworldly oddities. A decade ago these oddities would have been considered avant-garde and eccentric - which they totally are - but somehow millennial tolerance doesn’t extend to TomKat.
Which is really too bad, because just look at them in the latest edition of “T: The New York Times Style Magazine.â€
Whatever else you want to say about Cruise, there’s no denying that he does a body good.
And while Holmes was at best semi-pixie-cute in her pre-Tom days, now she’s a total knockout in that rare regal brand of beauty that we (if not the Sic Willies of the world) adore.
Seriously, Katie sparkles like fine art these days – and the finest of art is usually misunderstood. Of the gossip that her marriage has turned her robotic, she has this to say:
“There’s a misperception about me that I just became this wallflower, this woman who doesn’t have any control of her life. And that’s pretty wrong. From the very beginning, I’ve made choices in my life that have been very strong. “
Damn right she’s determined! In the interview, she recalls her childhood dream of marrying Cruise. Anybody capable of that kind of self-actualization is just not the type to fade into someone else.
Plus, again, just look at her…that’s certainly not the face of a wallflower.
As for Tom, he comes across as faintly Germanic in his magazine shots, a look which complements his wife’s imperial quality … to say nothing of his upcoming film Valkyrie, which chronicles the July 20, 1944 assassination attempt against Nazi warlord Adolf Hitler.
Cruise plays Count Claus Philipp Maria Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, or Col. Stauffenberg for those of you who don’t want to try and say all of those names at once.
In keeping with the fairy tale-esque feel of their relationship, Claus … err, Cruise says that he knew he’d marry Katie after their “very first date.â€
Yeah … Swoon.
Anyway, check out the pics below, and here are links to Katie’s and Tom’s accompanying videos.
