Dowd Does Fey

Pretty much anything you ever wanted to know about Tina Fey is included in Maureen Dowd’s ginormous new Vanity Fair spread on the actress, which is frankly one of the few elongated star pieces we’ve ever read that moves beyond the fluff of fantasies and favorites and actually tells us something we wanted to know about the subject.

Actually a lot of things. And not just that she likes cupcakes and hates her feet, or that she does a mean Elly May Clampett imitation.

We actually get to go inside Fey’s head, exploring her “borderline boring” marriage as well as her “prude/lewd split personality.” A dichotomy we must admit is intently arousing.

Note to emerging pop culture icons – insist on Maureen Dowd.

Anyway, while the MSM has been obsessed with the “scar story,” i.e. how Fey was attacked as a five-year-old and has a thin scar running across her left cheek, there’s a whole lot more to this piece than a token tabloid revelation.

Loaded with interviews from stars like Alec Baldwin, Conan O’Brien and Amy Poehler, it’s just a damn funny story told by one of the best storytellers around.

You can read Maureen on Tina in its entirety by clicking here, and below is the Vanity Fair cover and a few pics from Fey’s photo shoot for the magazine.
