Coastal Watching has a point. Tom Davis brings a whole new dynamic to the Governor’s race. Someone dedicated to fiscal conservatism and to the betterment of this State. Even when the Senate Caucus threw the kitchen sink at him, he still beat the incumbent. Will see what January brings.

If you want a coastal candidate, look no farther than Leon. I know he is a Democrat, but in name only. He certainly has had no problems “going along to get along” with the leadership in the House, maybe we would see a new era of what some would call cooperation, others would call rubber stamp.

I think it says enough about Merril’s chances with the GOP primary electorate that his only supporter who has posted thus far would pick James Smith second. Coastal Watching- Campsen is a good guy and a solid reformer, but about as exciting as learning the Dewey decimal system. I don’t know a lot about Davis except he should be a reliable vote for reform and he apparently knows something about winning a race- he beat an incumbent female.

“Fiscal irresponsibility should not lead to higher office…” right you are (No to the Rhinos)..!! But just look at the Peelers….Bob, Harvey, and Boone; they are irresponsible to the environment in Cherokee County when in fact there is Plasma technology that makes landfills OBSOLETE and they seem to care less..???! Look where it has gotten them..!!?

I did not see MR. Merrill at the Parkers Ferry Landfill meeting last night….where was HE at?? I did NOT see Any members from Charleston County Council there to get citizen feedback? I did NOT see Henry BROWN..?? Anne Petersen Hutto..?? Chip Campsen…??

We elect these people and then they ….HIDE ??? We email them and get what response….??? What coverage was in ANY paper in the STATE..???

The ONLY person….(ONLY !!) that calls me back regularly is the GOVERNOR’s OFFICE !!!!
With all the responsibility and headaches he has trying to call out the rascally Legislators and he and his staff find a moment to call and talk??

Is there ONLY one person in this state who even takes time to ..LISTEN ??!?

Mr. Merril..have you talked to ANYONE in Cherokee COUNTY…???! …or ADAM’s RUN…!!!

…both locations are in SOUTH CAROLINA…!!!

Bill is right — there has to be a coastal candidate. And given the political times, with the wheel turning Sanford’s way, it has to be someone who supports the gov’s conservative fiscal policies. My bet is that a dark horse like Chip Campsen or Tom Davis throws his hat into the ring.

We have to send a message to Columbia and Washington that we have quit electing Rhinos. Jim Merril voted for bigger government and was in office when budgets exploded.He was in a position of power and could have stopped a lot of spending and he chose not to .

Why’s everybody picking on jimmy. Unlike most of those guys and girls he is honoring some sort of term limits. The imposed term limit set when Jimmy became Majority Leader. Only time will tell if future Majority Leaders will honor that plege.

We could do a lot worse with Jimmy Merrill as Governor and if not him, James Smith.
