Forget the traditional post-turkey nap.
Even with a sputtering economy, over a hundred “Black Friday” shoppers were already starting their all-night vigil outside the Harbison Road Best Buy in Columbia, S.C. … at 7:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving night.
Sure, it’s freezing cold outside and the doors won’t even open for another ten hours, but the parking lot had already taken on a college football tailgating atmosphere with tents, portable heaters, grills and kids tossing footballs between the rows of cars.
We even saw a man fetching a twelve-pack of Busch beer from a cooler in the trunk of his Ford Explorer.
And amazingly, it wasn’t our founding editor.
Perhaps the experts were right?
Maybe this holiday shopping season isn’t going to be as bad as everyone thinks …

Would you believe that I was one of those crazies standing in a Best Buy line? I’m still recovering…
