Time for the Ol'visor boy to put up or move on to better golf courses. Then again, if you lose Spurrier who would possibly want to follow in his wake. USC is not a school where coaches stop on their way up the ladder, it's become a last chance to save a career before joining ESPN or becoming an assistant again.

And Nicky, please stop using the internet, your embarrassing yourself and the Carolina fans who were able to kick the coke and graduate. Before you go on another rant with all your "facts" make sure there correct. And not just something you daddy told you every November to make the shame of being a coot easier to handle. Your on the internet after all, there is no excuse, not even stupid, for getting simple facts wrong.

Top quality players simply won't come to Columbia or a school like USC. Holtz and Spurrier and two great coaches that have come in and failed, just because they simply can't get decent players to come to USC.

Win, lose or draw, the Tigers are just plain fun to watch. When the year began, the talk was fantastic and there was awe. Even when Bama made them look like a Divison III team, the talk was fantatic and there was still a little awe. Even when the ACC was humiliated on a national stage, the stage on which they would excel, the talk was still fantastic, minus the awe. But when Bowden was booted, and replaced by a guy name Dabo, that's when I finally got it.

And when I learned that Dabo wasn't his given name, and that it was derived from the inability of a sibling to say "that boy" and that it stuck throughout his adult life, I knew that no matter what, the Tigers were always going to be fun. Just plain old easy fun.

Yes, Clemson fans dwell on things like reality - what actually has happened. Carolina fans like to throw out, "but but but what if Carolina were to win the next decade, that'd make you guys look stupid." Get back to me when it actually happens, k? We like to dwell on that time way back in the dark ages when Clemson won all the time. Wait, whats that? We've won 9 of the last 11? Wow, that seems recent...

The gamecocks can beat clemson the next ten years and you fans will still go back to a time when you use to win. It's what you do. You stole one championship by cheating almost 30 years ago and you still think that's makes you an elite team. Wake up it's a new day clemson is no more.

nicky,

Did you know that Clemson's Memorial Stadium was called Death Valley before LSU's? LSU's was originally nicknamed "deaf valley" to distinguish it from Clemson's nickname. Over the years it was converted to Death Valley. Clemson's stadium nickname, in fact, came before the rock. It was nicknamed Death Valley because Cemetery Hill overlooks the stadium. It was only after the nickname gained popularity that the rock from Death Valley, CA was given as a gift to Frank Howard. A complimentary history lesson for you to try to wrap your mind around...
1981 National Championship
63-17
64-37-4
Enough Said.

As a Fla fan living in this state for a brief time, nothing thrills me more than seeing SC and CU fans bicker over their football teams than when the bicker over US news and world report rankings (which don't mean a damn thing, but for anyone who thinks they do, go ahead and check out where UF is compared to those two schools). The only thing that is more fun than watching USC and CU fans bickering about US news and world report rankings is seeing CU fans talking about how much they own SC. Every night they go to bed thanking god for SC since they know that SC is all they have (other than a purchased national championship). What would they do if SC did go for another rival like Wofford or Winthrop, as one poster suggested? They would have nothing left. They can get on here and suggest it all they want, but at night they'll pray it won't happen.

I have spent a significant amount of time in my life reading. Novels, sports columns, political columns, textbooks, journals, legal decisions, statutes . . . you name it. I have a couple of degrees, so as you can imagine I have read a lot of BS in my day. None of that BS, however, lights even the faintest candle to the series of words that comprise this article. Few authors have so clearly exhibited their ignorance about the subject they are writing on as have these. If I began to set forth the thousands of reasons why this is wrong, I would be writing for three days. I am going to let this go, and pretend like I never read this.
