Just Like The Romans

If you thought America’s recession and ballooning national debt (to say nothing of its looming entitlement bankruptcies) were bad news, it now looks like our country’s whole “superpower” thing is getting ready to go by the boards, too.

As if the current not so ship-shape of our Navy didn’t portend such tidings.

From the LA Times:

A new assessment by U.S. intelligence agencies predicts that American influence in the world will decline over the next two decades as surging powers such as China and India, as well as independent entities including tribes and criminal networks, gain international clout.

… the U.S. will remain the world’s foremost economic and military force, but its standing as an unrivaled superpower will probably diminish as a “global multipolar system” emerges.

China stands to have more effect on the world over the next 20 years than any other country, the report says, and India will strive to represent one of the world’s economic poles.

So quick question … who currently holds more of our nation’s $11.3 trillion national debt than any other country?

That’s right. The Long Duk Dongers.

Way to go, America. Way to go …
