Cato Sees Opportunity In Harrell’s Weakness
One of the most calculating politicians in the South Carolina legislature is positioning himself for a run at the Speaker’s Chair in 2010, sources tell FITS.
State Rep. Harry Cato – who decided against challenging embattled House Speaker Bobby Harrell this year – is reportedly telling his colleagues that Harrell has “lost control” and that he will run against the Speaker next session if the disintegration of the GOP caucus continues.
As Palmetto politicos know, Cato is uniquely equipped to make such a threat given the backdoor deal he cut with the Legislative Black Caucus in 2007 over the appointment of African-American Supreme Court Justice Donald Beatty.
Harrell – who was elected Speaker three years due in large part to his monolithic Democratic support – is as good as finished if Cato can break his Democratic stranglehold and peel off a handful of Republicans to back his candidacy.
That might be not be as difficult as it sounds given the current fractured state of the House Republican Caucus, and the fact that Harrell has alienated multiple factions of his internal constituency in an effort to suppress a conservative uprising on his right.
“The House GOP caucus is in tatters,” one of Cato’s State House supporters told FITS today on condition of anonymity. “Bobby Harrell has lost control, which strengthens Harry’s hand.”
Whether that’s a good thing or not is certainly up for debate, as Cato has built his nucleus of State House support the same way Bobby has – by drifting to the left.
Ostensibly an “Upstate conservative,” Cato technically doesn’t even live in his district anymore, maintaining an address there solely to keep up appearances.
He’s literally in bed with the trial lawyers, too, and his record as chairman of the powerful House Labor, Commerce and Industry committee can hardly be termed conservative.
Other sources tell FITS that Cato is contemplating a statewide candidacy, and will leave the House in two years … which we find difficult to believe.
Either way, expect Cato to continue playing the insider game much better than Bobby, who has shown his political immaturity at almost every turn since ascending to the most powerful elected office in the state.

So transparent Mr. Folks. You praise Cato to weaken Harrell. It is chaos strategy and you have heretofore employed it successfully to weaken the Speaker.
But no more. WMD is here.

There is no doubt Cato is waiting in the wings calculating every miscalculation of Harrell. Which as of this past year and recent incidents proves to be mounting into just one big cluster. I think there needs to be another Speaker candidate that runs in their company. There are better options and with Harrell on the ropes he has a lot to prove. He’s certainly not off to a good start, alienating GOP members and manipulating his power for more “centralized control” (Hitler and Hussein did the same). But will Cato be any different?

Does anybody else think Cato is the “Hey Vern” guy?

There are a couple of House members who are never the first ones off of everybodies lips (like Merrill or Haley) who are building their inluence and power bases. These are people who got their act together and whose egos dont require them to be in the news EVERYDAY. These will be the ones for Harrell, Cato ect to contend with in the future. So goodbye Merrill and watch out Harrell and Cato. nope, it aint Bingham either. But they and some of their allies are the future of the House!

It’s funny to watch the S.C. republicrat political consultants and Howie’s carpetbuggers post anonymously here on sic(k) willie’s little porn site.
Keep up your foolishness boys, and S.C. will be a Blue state again.
Never happen, you think? Look who’s moving into the White House.
Now, picture Inez in the gub’ner’s Mansion.

What is BIN News I always see on here? Dem I take it, but does BIN have a website or consulting firm or anything? I mean I never see any BIN response that has substance or factual basis or reasoned contribution. Every other comment is one about Willie’s past which most of us have moved past. The rest usually say something of the non-intelligent equivalent of “Dems Rule, Repubs Drool.” I would just like to know if BIN has a site so I may go and see if BIN has anything of substance to say. Anyone know?

BIN Site:
We will be producing the comprehensive anti-Will Folks website, not BIN. It is in developmental stages but it is coming you can rest assured.
