We Snuck Into USC’s Football Practice

Since head coach Steve Spurrier won’t tell us who his starting quarterback will be when the 23rd-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks head to Gainesville to battle the third-ranked Florida Gators tomorrow, we dispatched our founding editor over to Williams-Brice Stadium yesterday to try and sneak into South Carolina’s football practice.

Unfortunately, Sic Willie got caught … which prompted the Ol’ Ball Coach to immediately insert him into live drills against the first team defense, a decision which was easy given the astonishing similarities between Sic’s size and athletic ability and those of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.

True story.

Anyway, there’s still no word on which QB will start for the Gamecocks tomorrow, but our bet is that both Chris Smelley and Stephen Garcia will see action – perhaps even rotating plays like they did during the Arkansas game.

There’s also no word yet on whether or not we’ll get arrested (again) when this unauthorized photo of the second team offensive line runs …
