Jenny For Governor?

If members of South Carolina’s bass-ackwards General Assembly thought that conservative Gov. Mark Sanford was a thorn in their sides, then First Lady Jenny Sanford would be a .45 Magnum in their faces.

Possessing infinitely more in the way of street smarts and intestinal fortitude than her philosophical, at times meandering husband, Mrs. Sanford has been fittingly described as an “Old Testament woman with a 170 IQ.”

Brilliant, tough and wholly unconcerned with what others think of her, she’s always struck us a breath of fresh, honest air in a state full of “bless your little heart” women who connive and back stab each other in the very next breath.

And while she may be State Sen. Glenn McConnell’s poster girl for privilege, we happen to know better than anyone that she doesn’t play the political game like your typical trust fund ex-debutante.

Privileged? Sure she is … but Jenny also packs a punch far beyond the depth of her pocketbook.

Anyway, even though we think she would make a great governor (not to mention a great self-funded candidate), we don’t think there’s any truth whatsoever to the rumor that got floated our way tonight – namely that a “secret meeting of Mrs. Sanford’s inner circle” gathered for a meeting yesterday aimed at making her South Carolina’s next chief executive.

As far as we can tell, Jenny has been completely disengaged from her husband’s administration since guiding him to reelection two years ago.

And her current “inner circle,” again inasmuch as we can tell, are her four children.

We got floated a similar rumor about Mark Sanford running for Treasurer two months ago, and it turned out to be completely bunk – which is where we think this one is headed, too.

We’ll obviously continue to look at this, but in all honesty it will only be out of complete and total depression at the current crop of candidates for the state’s most visible office.

With Congressman Gresham Barrett selling out to the Washington establishment on the bailout vote and former House Majority Leader Jimmy Merrill busy tying Columbia RINO leader Bobby Harrell’s shoelaces, there sure as hell isn’t much in the way of decent options to choose from.

Unless of course former cheerleader André Bauer or walnut-for-brains Attorney General Henry McMaster floats your boat.

And believe us, neither floats ours …

Seriously, people … is it too much to ask that the Republican nominee for governor in 2010 actually be a friggin’ Republican?

Has this party not learned a damn thing?

No, the party has not learned a thing.

Katon Dawson and Company has run this party for a small group of insiders. The taxpayers of this state are not in that group…so we continue to have our leaders working for special interest…usually their own.

Until the GOP gets new blood IN THE PARTY, we will keep losing ground.

Wondering: I couldn’t agree more. They have learned nothing…because to do so would be to admit mistakes, which our political leaders rarely (sorry, never) have the balls to do.

FITS: I agree that McMaster is an empty-headed buffoon, who will do nothing but pander to the religious zealots that got us into this mess in the 1st place. Bauer was a cheerleader? Shock. And Barrett proved to be nothing more than a politician with his vote last month. Another shock.

I have never voted democrat in my life, until 2008. I voted for McCain but couldnt bring myself to press the button for Graham or Wilson, and voted for Flatop Bob and whoever that pilot was that ran against ol’ Joe. Unfortunately, not enough others followed my cue.

Republicans have blown (and continue to blow) every opportunity. They deserve everything they’re gonna get.

They will not learn a damn thing, until we start turning them out. We just gave ourselves 6 (count em) 6 more years of Lindsey Graham. Let’s see if the gang of 14 steps in to save us from “extreme” appointments now.
How about Jenny for governor AND Mark for Treasuer, that would cause some puckering.

Lourie/Sheheen/Smith. v/s McMaster/Bauer/Barrett

Can we get some thoughts on this battle. Me thinks the Dems have some potential.

But never count Andre out.

I need to get me one of those .45 magnums. Is that some hip-hop reference I don’t get?

Maybe we will see something good from one of these new GOP senators. Does anyone think Mulvaney or Davis could make a big enough splash in about a year to run statewide? Somebody has to carry the reform banner. Is it really going to be one of the other guys?

Why not Jenny? She has class, balls, and knows where the bodies are buried at.
Put her on the ballot….beats anything else this state has come up with. If not Jenny, how about Flat Top Bob Conley, he may not be republican, but he’s more conservative than any of the ilk (rinos) available today. In other words, at least he’s reasonably honest.

Jenny and Palin have a lot in common. Palin can almost see Russia from her home in Alaska. Jenny can almost see Georgia from her plantation – if she climbs to the top of the boys’ tree house in that great big oak tree.

We can see the 2012 bumper sticker: Palin-J.Sanfraud! Vote Republicrat!

Democrats do have a chance in South Carolina. Unfortunately the party needs some leadership. Yes yes there are people in those positions, but they always manage to loose the elections for candidates. New Dem leadership, kick Republicans out of this state, and get all new faces next go round.
Things won’t ever change for the better for any human in this state, with McMaster, Graham, Bauer, or even Barrett. TIME FOR REAL LEADERSHIP, where they don’t have to “get their hands dirty” to lead. ( Lindsey Graham quote, Meet the Press, October 2008)

Run, Jenny, run!
