The Next President

Barack Obama cruised to a convincing, historic victory last night, becoming the first African-American ever to win election as President of the United States.

Obama won the key swing states of Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio, and also took the former Republican stronghold of Virginia, earning a 338-155 Electoral College advantage over his GOP rival John McCain.

He also enjoyed a roughly 4% edge in the popular vote.

We’ve stated on numerous occasions that we disagree with Obama and everything he stands for (i.e. socialism), but he certainly deserves everyone’s congratulations today.

After all, it must have been extremely difficult for him to defeat the worst-run presidential campaign ever, with a 2-to-1 cash advantage and the mainstream media performing fellatio on him every step of the way.

Of course, it’s difficult to imagine Obama being any worse on fiscal issues than our nation’s current president, although we suspect he’ll ultimately find a way.

Race has finally played the ultimate roll in a major election. When it was final that Obama was the new President-elect, blacks (yes, blacks, not african-americans… here’s why) took the streets, blarring rap music, and screaming repeatedly “BLACK POWER!” I thought he was elected to CHANGE, this country to better it for EVERYONE?
The vocal and noticeable Obama supporters that are celebrating this “victory” where I live, make me ashamed (for the first time ever) to call myself an American.

“He certainly deserves everyone’s congratulations today.” Why congratulate someone you have no faith in or desire to help bring about needed and wanted change.
“Of course, it’s difficult to imagine Obama being any worse on fiscal issues than our nation’s current president, although we suspect he’ll ultimately find a way.”
Don’t you realize he’ll have many people helping him even McCain and Palin if need be. A campaign is only a way for us to chose one person to lead the country. On the other side of that are many, many advisers, consultants, mentors, confidants, and trusted friends who will help build a team to get this country where we need to be. Maybe not in 4 years but I pray we’ll get there. Aren’t you tired of being a joke to other nations.Broke, divided, and weak. There was a time when the letter USA made nations tremble.
Give hope a chance and change may show up!

I find it reduculous you say Obama will find a way to screw our finacial status. We are already screwed. What’s worse? I’m in the lower middle class bracket and need Obama. Sorry rich people, the greed game is over. Why don’t you give a shit about anyone else. Your not here for your self. Think about it. Why would almighty god put you here for yourself. It’s a joke. I want the best for everyone. Not just you! And that’s great you had a rich family. I didn’t and want the same advantages. Go Obama. Conservatives suckit!

The GOP is ethically bankrupt…it is a party without a moral center.

The GOP will not investigate, nor cause to investigate in a meaningful way, the wide spread voter fraud or campaign financial illegalities of this recent election. It will accept it because it requires courage. It takes leadership. It will take republicans that care more about their country than their careers, and as we know, there are not many republicans that can put duty before personal glory.

A fundamental piece of our democracy is under attack, and there is nothing the average citizen can do about it.

JRB it is not that people don’t give a shit about the lower class bracket, it’s that we don’t think the government should be forcing charity on the rich just because they can. Meaning, taxing the rich more so that money can be given to the poor. Yes, I call that charity, though some may call it welfare. I give to charity every year, and I give even more of my volunteer time to charity (about 100 hours per year) to help those MOST in need. In far more need than you – I imagine.

Government should not be increasing taxes at a time like this. And government should not be cherry picking the quote unquote rich to pay for the lower middle class bracket.

Mansions exist so that people who don’t have wealth know they can create wealth – on their own – not with government hand holding. That was a quote from one of the founding fathers I believe…

Fair tax or flat tax or a tax solely based on consumption is the only way to go. Why? Because it’s FAIR.

And no I’m not rich, but my taxes might be raised in ‘09 and it is WRONG WRONG WRONG.

Obama’s plan will certainly unmotivate people to work harder, because that means more of your hard earned dollars will go to the government and to some bloke that decided to work less hard. SOCIALISM.

What America needs is a nice suburb that we can move to.

To BRIAN….

It’s ppl. like YOU that make me ashamed that there are still Americans that don’t get it. Did you expect the black population to celebrate the first black president by playing Hank Jr. music? Ethnic diversity is here to stay, so if you wanna keep up with a changing world, you better get with the program. Tolerance is the key and understanding will unlock your mind and release the bigotry.

Compulsion is not charity. Government taxing the rich to give to the poor is socialism. We have quite a bit of historical data about the effectiveness of socialism vs. capitalism and conservatism (at least the European strain of it) is resurgent in Britain, France, Germany, Italy, etc., but I guess America wants to have its socialist moment.

Patricia,

” Aren’t you tired of being a joke to other nations.Broke, divided, and weak. There was a time when the letter USA made nations tremble.”

The idiocy of this should be self-evident, but here goes. Our economy makes up almost a quarter of the WORLD’s GDP. We have the most powerful military in the world. Do you really believe that China and Russia make a single foreign policy decision without first thinking through how America will respond? Weak indeed.

People vote with their feet. Most of the people in the world would love to come here because it is the land of opportunity. Even in a recession, the standard of living in America dwarfs that of any other country. I don’t care what other countries think about America because I don’t mistake envy for contempt.

JRB,

Have you ever gotten rich working for a poor person? Exactly, never. The rich invest, thus creating jobs. You don’t know anything.

By Ben on November 5th, 2008 at 10:32 am

The people have spoken. The discussion of who is best for our country is futile. Notwithstanding, positive change comes from the ground up. At this point, rather than slinging more mud and participating in discussion on mooted issues, focus on how YOU can make this place better. Rather than debating which person is best for the country, why not be that person. One person, one town, one county, one state at a time.

Did he get that holding the hand out thing from Lindsey, or vice versa?

That is where his heart-ears are. The people have spoken and he has heard us!

Kevin….this was a logical conclusion to a play that started in the 1960’s. As far as getting with the program…we already are, see no more racism (we have a black pres), no more affirmative action (we have a black president), no need for preferencial loans that wrecked this economy (we have a black pres), see….just lie back and cover your eyes with a cool cloth moistened with water…it’ll be alright. Hussein will get all the support, love and understanding that George Bush got. Never fear, we’ll be as fair and honest as you were…..
