Morons
For a group that’s trying to take over South Carolina’s “knowledge-based” economy (such as it is), the S.C. General Ass-embly isn’t exactly inspiring a lot of confidence.
That’s because the State Legislature’s official domain name, www.SCStateHouse.net, apparently expired today, which means that all the bills, budgets, laws, journal reports, lobbyist disclosures, legislative bios and related information about state government has temporarily vanished from public view.
Ironically, all of that public information has been momentarily replaced by a bunch of advertisements for trial lawyers … which let’s face it, is probably a much more accurate representation of the legislative process.
Anyway, with a debate currently raging over the issue of government transparency, it strikes us as pretty sad that our lawmakers can’t even remember to renew their friggin’ domain name.
UPDATE - As of 5:30 p.m., www.SCStateHouse.net is back up and running. Nice work, fellas. Nice work.

No lie - I tried to buy this domain while this website was down - that would have been a good investment during this tough economic times.

When my domain gets close to expiring — you know, like a year before it does — I get an e-mail a day reminding me. I wonder who hasn’t checked their e-mail in 365 days.
