Fulmer Out At Tennessee
Ten years after winning the national championship and one season after capturing the SEC East crown, Phillip Fulmer is out of a job at Tennessee, effective at the end of this season.
The Volunteers will make it official at a press conference at Neyland Stadium later this afternoon, marking the end of a coaching career unrivaled in the school’s history.
Fulmer has posted a 150-51 record in 18 seasons at Tennessee, including a stellar 97-34 record in SEC play.
Still, the Vols have stumbled in recent years, enduring an awful 5-6 season in 2005 prior to this year’s 3-6 disaster. In fact, Fulmer’s SEC record over the last four seasons is a disappointing 15-15.
We had heard some rumblings from some of our SEC sources last week that a loss to South Carolina would likely be the end of the road for Fulmer, and obviously his Tennessee team looked positively awful in dropping a 27-6 decision to Steve Spurrier’s Gamecocks on Saturday.
No word yet on who the Vols will get to replace Fulmer in 2009 …

He WAS a great coach, but in the recent years, we can only say “ABOUT TIME!” because with the rest of the SEC getting younger and better in the coaching staffs, it’s something Tennessee certainly needs.
There’s plenty of good coaches out there to pick it up!

So when’s bubba Don Jo Bob, Clem’s sons AD gonna talk to Phil? We know that Phil knows how to accessorize in orange, though I don’t doubt that the FITS grisl will find some of his choices Mr. Blackwell list material.
