The North Carolina Tar Heels are the first-ever unanimous preseason No. 1 team in college basketball history, and only the second team ever to start consecutive seasons ranked atop the Associated Press poll.
North Carolina, which fell to eventual national champion Kansas in last year’s Final Four, brings back its top six scorers from last year’s team, although there is some concern about a leg injury to Tyler Hansbrough.
Last year’s NCAA player of the year, Hansbrough averaged over 22 points and 10 rebounds a game, and his health will obviously be critical if the Tar Heels’ are to live up to such unprecedented preseason expectations.
