Cast Wilson, Brown Into The Wilderness
It gives us no great pleasure to recommend to South Carolina voters that two of their “Republican” Congressmen should be shown the door on November 4.
We wish it weren’t so, particularly considering the fact that such a recommendation involves endorsing two Democrats – the moderate Rob Miller and the overtly-liberal Linda Ketner – to replace them.
But let’s be honest, Republicans in general (and U.S. Reps. Joe Wilson and Henry Brown in particular) have sold out the core beliefs of the party they claim to represent, no matter what their special interest-funded campaign commercials tell you.
All of which is another way of saying that electing Miller and Ketner to Congress is unlikely to make things any worse than they are – and in Miller’s case, might even make them a little better.
In addition to their atrocious fiscal records, both Wilson and Brown eagerly jumped on board President George W. Bush’s socialist bandwagon – long before so-called “free market” incentives were lumped onto the boondoggle in an effort to lure so-called “real Republicans.”
Such conduct is flat out inexcusable, and Ronald Reagan is no doubt doing cartwheels in his grave at what these “Bush Republicans” have done to the party he worked to hard to bring out of the national wilderness.
Miller, an Iraq War veteran, has made balancing the federal budget and economic development central themes of his campaign.
Needless to say we’re skeptical as to whether he’ll follow through (given the Democrats’ failure to keep their 2006 promises of fiscal conservatism), but given the cutthroat mood of the South Carolina electorate for any further monkey business in DC, we’re willing to give him a shot.
Ketner, on the other hand, is clearly not cut from the same moderate cloth. In fact, as far as we can tell – to borrow a Nixonian phrase – she’s “pink right down to her underwear.”
Unfortunately, electing her is probably the only way we’ll ever get rid of Brown, who is as corrupt and unprincipled a RINO politician as you’re ever going to find.
Hopefully, in two years, we’ll be able to come back and endorse strong fiscal conservative candidates for both of these seats, but the sad truth is that’s never going to happen without a long overdue RINO-cleansing.
Having forsaken the lower tax, limited government ideals they were sent to Washington to defend, Republicans all across the nation are facing some serious time in the wilderness.
And since Joe Wilson and Henry Brown are among the worst of the GOP offenders, the wilderness is precisely where they belong.
More importantly, South Carolina Republicans (and Republicans everywhere) should insist next go-round on candidates with a proven track record of protecting the taxpayers’ best interests.

Couldn’t agree with you more. Kudos to Miller campaign manager, Lachlan McIntosh, for running another well-disciplined campaign. Whoever says this guy isn’t the best Democratic campaign manager in South Carolina, obviously doesn’t know their ass from a hole in the ground.
Maybe he’ll run Robert Barber for Governor Lite again in two years, and we can beat out whatever RINO the Republicans offer for that position as well.

AMEN!!
I am a fiscal conservative and I will vote out Henry Brown in a new york minute . Ketner signs are everywhere in the Lowcountry with very few Henry Brown signs up . Who in their right mind would vote for this idiot? What do you want to do – double our deficit one more time?
He is exactly what is wrong with our country – a big spending liberal hiding under the stained Republican label.

I saw Joe at Shealy’s in Leesville yesterday at lunch. He had a hard time finding people to take his campaign stuff. What he handed out was a biography and not where he stood on the issues. Let’s send him home.
By Statesman is full of it on October 28th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Everyone took Joe’s stuff at Shealy’s yesterday, including myself. And if you actually took the time to read the material, it was a bio and an explanation of where he stands on the issues. Good try though. Lies that go unanswered are taken as truth.
And screw you Will. You are helping the Dems get a super majority in the House and Senate. Your fiscal conservative credentials are bogus. You’re more interested in settling personal scores and amassing personal power than advancing conservatism. And what about the unborn? What good is your fiscal conservatism if you don’t give a crap about the unborn being slaughtered every day? You are actively working to get pro-tax and pro-abortion liberals into Congress, and it’s shameful.
Don’t drink Miller’s kool-aid. He’s going to be just another foot soldier in Pelosi’s army. Of course he is going to try and say that he’ll be independent of her. Right.
Shame on you.

You and all your Neocon buddies are getting the door. We may have to go through hell for a couple of years, but we’re going to build a better stronger conservative movement without your kind in it.
By the way, I voted against Inglis for good measure just because he jumped on the bailout bandwagon.
Suck it RINOs, I’ll see you in hell.

“What good is your fiscal conservatism if you don’t give a crap about the unborn being slaughtered every day?”
How can the unborn be slaughtered and what does that have to do with the fact that Wilson and Brown have no soul???

It is amazing to watch such nasty infighting.
Consultant vs. Consultant. Blogger vs. Blogger. Republicrat vs. Republicrat. And the term “conservative movement” reminds our staff of the term “bowel movement.” Both move sh*t daily. RINO is another interesting term. Well, it was the first eleventy Brazillion times it was used.
Now it is as meaningless as sic(k) willie’s promises to tell us about the Midlands’ elected official he claimed has a Strom problem and his empty promise to tell us about his claim the gub’ner paid off the family of a “poor black girl” here in the Beaufort area.

Following Will’s train of thought on the bailout vote (which every member of the SC delegation supported except DeMint), does this mean his conservative superhero Gresham Barrett is the next to be UNendorsed since he voted for the bailout bill too? People can disagree on the bill, but it had strong support from Senate arch-conservatives like Coburn, Thune, Cornyn, and Kyl.
By fitsnews on October 28th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
“Who’s Next,”
We probably won’t waste time endorsing in Gresham’s race as he doesn’t have a credible opponent.
Also, notwithstanding that one unconscionable brain fart, he’s got a great record – although we suspect he’ll have to shore those fiscal conservative credentials up for the 2010 GOP gubernatorial fight.

Does anyone know how the rest of us can get the county tax assessor in Lexington County to loose our tax bills too? I mean, with the economic crisis and all, I’d sure love to hold on to all my bling like Joe!
In agreement with you Sic – its time for Joe to go … thank God we’ve got a credible moderate to vote for instead. Have you guys every met Miller? I met him the other day … he wears a pocket knife on his belt … something tells me he’s not all that interested in what Nancy Pelosi thinks.
By James the Foot Soldier on October 28th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Belive it: amazing to watch the infighting?
Would you expect otherwise when the entire “republican” delegation (with the notable exception of the soon to be Senior Senator from South Carolina DeMint) goes socialist????
Does anyone remember it was DeMint alone who voted against the not-so-subtle redistribution of wealth to seniors in the form of prescription drug coverage?
Hiltner: a vote for a democrat is a vote for Pelosi and Reid??? Please, pour your dixie cup of kool-aid over your head and WAKE THE EFF UP!!! joe and lindsey voted WITH their pals nancy and harry and have thus formed a new coalition with its basic tenant being socialism.

Dear Statesman is full of it, I believe you forgot to take your meds. Also, what Joe gave me was nothing issue oriented. I don’t dislike Joe, I just think he is a joke. A Bush bobblehead! He has been since I worked in the SC Senate 22 years ago. If he gets the can, maybe we can get a decent choice in two years since no one would run against him in the primary. I believe Jakie or that lady that ran against him could take Joe but neither has a big enough set to challenge him.
By DYKE on October 29th, 2008 at 8:29 am
Isn’t Ketner a dyke? She looks like she could have been hot 10-15 years ago, so being a hot dyke doesn’t really concern me. Even if it was years ago. Come on people, hot dykes are HOT!

Look, my bosses are getting quite mad at me, but here is what I think
We really need to vote out Henry. He is a menance to all good people. He threatens anyone who tries to make things better or imporove the conditions for anyone other than him self.
Lets try someone who cares. Vote Ketner

These endorsements are childish. The left-wing Ketner and the left-wing lite Miller over Brown and Wilson. This is just ridiculous.
By Wilson Is Not a Smart Man on October 29th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Will someone get Preston Grisham (the guy who gives Joe Wilson his BJ’S) off the blogs and on some medicine?
“Statesman is full of it” aka Preston Grisham, was of course at Shealy’s BBQ… given the fact that he was the guy handing out the Wilson literature.
If Wilson was smart, he would hire an actual campaign staff, instead of employing a bunch of College Republicans that have never been laid. Why haven’t they been laid? A) Because female parts are made of fire, and you will go to Hell if you have intercourse, and B) Because College Republicans are about as cool as jean shorts.

BIN News has a better idea. Let’s keep Wilson and Brown and “cast” sic(k) willie into a dumpster behind a 5 Points bar with Jakie. And close the lid. Imagine the entertainment value! To make the fight more fair we could give sic(k) willie the leg off of some broken furniture to use as a weapon. But we would also have to tie Jakie’s hands to his ankles and make him promise not to bite. Fair fight!

I’ve liked Rob Miller ever since he pretended to be conservative. He’s not, but… It would be great to get rid of another Quinn-backed Amnesty-loving fiscal lib sellout. Miller is worse that Joe Wilson on all counts, but… Just imagine the HUGE backlash in the Obama midterm elections! You thought 1994 was a Republican Revolution? Secession, baby!
