SC Blog War Update

Since we wrote last week about the ongoing “blog war” between The Palmetto Scoop and its fellow second-tier South Carolina political web sites, we figured now was as good a time as any to check in with Scoop editor “McLovin” to see how his crusade to expose several anonymous bloggers is faring …

As it turns out, McLovin’s War is producing some casualties for his opposition.

In today’s edition of the Scoop, McLovin (a.k.a. Richard Quinn & Associates employee Adam Fogle) has “outed” a familiar face as the author of one of his least favorite websites.

From The Scoop:

Information obtained by TPS reveals that “objective” Columbia “journalist” Wes Wolfe, formerly of the Free-Times and City Paper, is the man behind the vitriolic “Vierdsonian Democracy” … it’s no coincidence that Wolfe is close friends with First Tuesday’s Wesley Donehue … it’s also no coincidence that Wolfe has written a number of the exact same rumors that the firm’s partner Terry Sullivan has reportedly been pushing behind the scenes.

Interesting …

We actually shut down Wolfe’s previous anonymous blog earlier this year after its authors posted a comment on our website alleging that Lt. Gov. André Bauer had a cocaine problem, but we had no idea there was a connection between his work and the political consulting firm of Warren Tompkins.

At the time he got caught libeling the Lt. Governor, Wolfe pledged to confine his left-wing hit pieces to the pages of the Free-Times and Columbia City Paper, but he must have changed his mind.

Like we said last week, the allure of “geek infamy” is hard to resist.

Personally, we have no problem with Wolfe – or any other anonymous bloggers out there.

In fact, we rather enjoyed watching his attempts to play Woodward and Bernstein with our founding editor awhile back, and we certainly give him credit for being a decent writer.

We do think it’s funny that these guys keep moving all locust-like from one blog to the next every time they get “outed,” though, which we’re guessing is a tactic they must teach at Dungeons and Dragons or Star Trek conventions.

Don’t worry — Vierdsen stops for no man.

Is that “CSI Miami” playing in the background in that photo? If so, does that mean we’re any closer to FITS publishing a picture of Emily Proctor? I’ve had the hots for her since she was a conservative Christian staffer in the Bartlett Administration.

Emily Proctor … ahhh … yes, yes, yes.

Now if only we were as cool as “David Caruso in Jade.”
