Porker Convicted

In a fitting tribute to the ass-raping he’s inflicted on the American taxpayers over the last forty years, Alaska Senator Ted Stevens was convicted today on all seven counts of a federal corruption indictment.

Stevens, who faces Alaska voters in just eight days time, could conceivably be removed from office by a two-thirds vote of his colleagues in the U.S. Senate if his home state decides to send him back.

The “pork barrel king of Washington,” Stevens was indicted back in July for concealing some $250,000 worth of gifts provided to him by executives of a company that had business before the federal government.

His trial has generated significant publicity, including an appearance by Barack Obama supporter Colin Powell – who testified as one of Stevens’ character witnesses.

The guilty verdict surprised many political observers, who felt that Stevens was benefiting from a poorly-managed federal prosecution and might get off as a result.

And of course, Stevens will likely get a pardon from his fellow big government Republican, George W. Bush.

As for what should now happen to Stevens, we’re thinking “let the guilty hang …”

Alright, not really, but ya gotta love that old school Rage Against The Machine …

That should put the final nail in Stevens re-election hopes, oops, wrong metahophor, Stevens gets ticket to ride an ice-flo to no-where…

Other senatorial rinos on the ropes:
New Hampshire – Sununu
Smith – Oregon
Graham – South Carolina
Dole – North Carolina
Warner – Virginia

good riddance to the whole sorry-ass gang/group

I for one hope for a fillibuster proof margin in the Senate to bring the full force of the democrat agenda to bear on the American people. The Republic has survived far worse (i.e., 12 years of Bush I and II) and will be ripe for REAL Republicans.

If only the South Carolina legislature could have as good a housecleaning…

I also find it interesting that “chief reformer/maverick in charge” Governor Palin, basically said she expects Sen. Stevens to do what is right. Well now suppose that were a democrat or political opponent…she would have been a tad harsher I believe. Maybe she’s keeping her distance b/c of her original support of the “Bridge to Nowhere” but ever since his indictment, she changed her tune there as well.
