Tigers Target Texas Assistant

Texas Longhorns defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is the current favorite to replace Tommy Bowden as head coach at Clemson University, sources tell FITS.

A former standout defensive back at the University of Georgia, Muschamp has held defensive coaching positions at LSU, Auburn and Texas, among other college programs, and was the Miami Dolphins assistant head coach and defensive coordinator in 2005.

In thirteen years as a coach, Muschamp has never remained at one school longer than four seasons.

Known for his fiery sideline demeanor, Muschamp is easily one of the most talented defensive coaches in the college game, although he has never held a head coaching position at any level.

In addition to his lack of head coaching experience, it is unclear whether or not Muschamp’s irascible personality would mesh well with Tigers’ athletic director Terry Don Phillips, who has a habit of stalking the sidelines (in purple sweater vests, no less) and second-guessing his head coaches.

Obviously, Clemson is not discussing the issue with FITS – which we guess is better than its previous policy of flat out lying to us about what’s going on with its football program.

Based on that history (well, and in the interest of Google hits), we have decided for the purposes of this article to momentarily suspend our practice of referring to Clemson as “Clempsun.”

Who told you this? Who are your sources? Are you telling us that you have some source imbedded in the Clemson football program? You clearly f&@king made this up. Are you telling us that you know more than those clemson mushheads in the upstate that post blog entries everytime a Clemson player takes a piss!?!?! Your credibility is non-existent. Wait…Im getting something….A Source very close to “b” has informed him that FITS is a douchebag…wait for it…Im getting something else…a source very close to “b” has informed him that the next football coach at Clemson has already been secretly decided, and its…not MusChamp, not Tuberville, but, really? could it be true? …To be Continued…

    B-

They’re looking at a number of options, including Turbeville (who probably isn’t interested) as well as Lane Kiffin, who was just fired by the Oakland Raiders.

We’ve simply been informed that this is the guy they like most at the moment, and so we’re reporting on that.

There will be a lot of rumors and speculation throughout this process, and since we trade in both of those things, we’ll probably publish a lot of what we’re told – provided it comes from credible sources not unlike the ones who nailed the conditions and the timeline for Bowden’s departure, which we published before anybody else.

And as always, if you don’t like what you see here, go someplace else.

Yeah, you’re a little off. While Will Muschamps is a candidate, there seems to be a deal in the works in Austin to keep him around for a little while… so say my sources. Boise State’s coach flat out said “No,” and Lane Kiffen is not a candidate.

They have not sought Cower’s services, nor have they gone after Turbeville. Instead, the top three candidates are: Skip Holtz (ECU), Jim Leavitt (USF) and Bobby Johnson (Vandy). Take it to the bank. In case you were wondering, Muschamps is #4.
