Behind Today’s Tuneage
Music moves the world people, and there are certain songs that industry folks will do just about anything to get their hands on. One of those songs, ironically, is featured in “Today’s Tuneage,” a new single by Beyonce entitled “If I Were A Boy.”
The song is gorgeously soulful (and thought-provoking), and it’s no doubt going to be a major hit for our girl B.
There’s just one problem – Beyonce didn’t write the song, she bought it, and according to the fount of all knowledge and wisdom there was evidently some strong-armed shadiness associated with that process.
“If I Was A Boy” was actually written by BC Jean, a train smoke hot 21-year-old singer/songwriter from San Diego whose voice reminds us of Stevie Nicks – and yet thankfully doesn’t conjure up images of floor-length hippie skirts. Or headache powders, for that matter.
Anyway, you can check out BC Jean’s version of the song by watching the video above or clicking here. For a demo, it’s pretty amazing how good it is, and it’s too bad this up-and-coming young talent didn’t get the chance to record it in a real studio with major label backing the way Beyonce did.
Oh well, perhaps the remedy here is a little girl-on-girl? Hold your breath on the count of three, people … one … two …

You know, blogging etiquette dictates giving a “hat tip” to a blog from which you have pilfered material. What would I do, indeed!
