Pac Man Suspended

We speculated last week that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wouldn’t like getting played by trouble-prone defensive back Adam “Pac Man” Jones after the latter’s latest behavioral flare-up, and it turns out he wasn’t.

Goodell suspended Jones indefinitely yesterday for his involvement in a fight with one of his own bodyguards - a guy it turns out the Dallas Cowboys were paying to try and keep the arrest-happy athlete out of trouble.

Goodell had visited the Cowboys’ training facility last week and praised Jones - not knowing that just a few hours earlier he had gotten into a brawl with the bodyguard in a hotel room after attending a party hosted by the rapper Ludacris.

Although Jones suspension could end after only four games, it seems pretty clear that the Cowboys are done with him - as well they should be.

Jones has been given every opportunity to straighten up and fly right, and it’s obvious at this point that he’s utterly incapable of doing that.

Which is a shame. He’s a joy to watch on the football field, he just can’t stop beating people up off of it.
