Another $150 Billion Bailout?
It’s funny how some people define “economic stimulus.”
In our book, “economic stimulus” means actually putting money into the economy, not more government.
But that’s not the plan being advanced this week by Democratic leaders in Congress, who, let’s be honest aren’t all that much different from Republican leaders in Congress.
Released Monday, the Democrats’ latest “economic stimulus” plan is actually a massive bureaucratic bailout of state governments – ensuring that their reckless and unsustainable spending habits of the past decade don’t end up costing them a dime.
Funny how that works … when times were good, state governments lapped up billions in new revenues that could’ve gone to families and small businesses, and now that the bottom has fallen out, surprise!
Families and small businesses are being forced to pick up the tab so that politicians don’t have to fire any bureaucrats.
If Republicans were smart (which they’re not), they’d figure out a way to play the same “class warfare” card that Democrats have owned for decades.
Seriously, why should a six-figure educrat presiding over a failing school system get to keep their job while the rest of us sweat it out at the back of the unemployment line?
Why do government employees get automatic pay raises and sweet benefit packages – no matter how sh*tty a job they do – while people busting their asses at small businesses all across the country are getting fired? Or having their health insurance benefits cut?
It doesn’t make sense, people.
But hey, let’s spend another $150 billion to bail out government’s bad decisions … after all, it’s not like politicians in either Washington D.C. or state capitals across the country are ever going to be held truly accountable for this sort of thing.

Lets not forget that the drastic increased state debt over the past couple republican presidencies is due to the decentralization of federal gov. In other words Bush has been spending way more money than it would appear based on the national debt alone, and simply passing the buck onto the state governments, while claiming he’s reducing the deficit(federal debt maybe, but total debt, NOT). Look up how much State debts increased during the bush admin, not to mention the federal debt.
Sounds to me like the Democrats are only trying to put the debt back where it came from. And now you’re attacking the democrats for what is actually the republican’s fault. Classic. That seems to be one of the main differences between dems and reps. Reps just want it to look right in the present, while dems actually want it to be right for the future. Furthermore, asking 50 different State governments to administer services that all states have in common, and should be national or even global, should lead to monumental inefficiencies and inconsistencies from state to state, driving people further apart and creating even more distress and tension. I thought we lived in the “United” States of America. You know, “together” we will stand, divided we will fall…we’re actually dividing and conquering ourselves, nice job people. NOT

So, like, do you just spend your time looking for something, anything, to be outraged over while generalizing everything to make your outrage appear, well, more outraged? Just wondering.

Dixie,
When it comes to government, you don’t have to look too far to find something outrageous. On the other hand, you have to look pretty damn hard to find something that makes even a lick of common sense.
Our advice to people like you? Go back to sleep …

To all the haters out there, look around. Look at other websites, blogs, editorials, and jackass’s that put themselves on TV. Everyone blames everyone else. When have you ever seen a congressman/woman say “you know what, I screwed that one up, sorry, how can we fix it”? As a republican, I am sorry I ever voted for Bush twice, even though the alternatives were scary. I am a mortgage broker, and I gotta say, I blame Congress, our faux-conservative President, and our new socialist banking system for the problems we are experiencing now. There’s not one person you can blame, it’s everyone. I heard a cry to vote every single national politician out of office by 2016, and I think I agree with them.

Well, I hate to play the blame game but its time…you can thank all levels of government for our current situation. Do you remember a few years ago when you called your customer service office for assistance and noticed it was a foreigner (actually overseas) helping you? Businesses were given the opportunity to increase outsourcing to other countries and provided tax incentives and/or reduced costs to make it a reality. That was great news for large business generating record profits since their liabilities/expenses have been lowered but what happened to those that reminded in the states? What it meant for the “Average Joe” was his job was being sent overseas at half the cost (or less) and governments (federal, state, and local) ate the costs of lower income taxes (remember…eliminated or no jobs) and little to no business taxes (remember business were able to go bye bye.) Now don’t get me wrong this is not the greatest factor that has gotten us to this point, but it is certainly a factor none the less. Government at all levels have been projecting an increase in tax revenues without taking into account businesses and jobs that were departing. Many state employees (regardless of position or classification) are watching and waiting to find out how hard the hammer will swing. It will not be pretty and if some agencies (corrections, secondary education, DSS programs) are spared it means the others will have to cut even further to reduce this increasing hole in the budget. If you are a state employee, start planning an exit now (even if you will not need it).

Would you look at that woman? Some of us grew up playing house, school, doctor, restaurant…she must have practiced her whole life for this moment. Playing president. What a bunch of wasted film.
