Pac Man In Trouble Again

By fitsnews • on October 9, 2008

As much as we hate to give up on multi-millionaire celebrity athletes with awesome nicknames, it’s starting to look like NFL defensive back and return specialist Adam “Pac Man” Jones is destined to live the thug life rather than roam sideline-to-sideline in high definition on autumn Sundays.

Already the league’s poster boy for bad behavior, “Pac Man” just had another run-in with the law after Dallas police were called to investigate a disturbance at a hotel room involving the Cowboys cornerback and … wait for it … one of his own bodyguards.

“Pac Man” was at the hotel to attend a party hosted by the rapper Ludacris when the fight broke out, and several witnesses confirm seeing him in a “violent confrontation” with a member of his entourage.

From ESPN:

Dallas’ CBS affiliate, Channel 11, first reported Wednesday that Jones was involved in an altercation at the Joule Hotel in Dallas, damaging a bathroom.

Dallas Deputy Chief Vince Golbeck told the Dallas Morning News police were called to the scene at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Chief Golbeck told the News he thought Jones was staying at the hotel and may have been drinking.

There was no police report filed regarding the incident. No one was arrested and no one will be charged in connection with the fight.

“Someone from the business called police,” Dallas police spokesman Cpl. Jerry Monreal told The Associated Press. “Police arrived and spoke to the parties after they had a verbal argument. Both parties agreed to leave, and they left.”

Ordinarily, we’d say “no biggie” to all this but we’re dealing with Pac Man Jones, people, a guy who’s rap sheet requires a small forest to print out.

In fact, Jones missed the entire 2007 season for his multiple run-ins with the law, in particular his involvement in a Las Vegas bar brawl that erupted into a shooting that left a man paralyzed from the waist down.

There may be no criminal charges forthcoming in this case, but the league made it clear that they had a zero tolerance policy for any further “Pac attacks.”

That’s particularly ironic considering NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell - the man who suspended Pac Man and reinstated him prior to this season - happened to be in Dallas visiting the Cowboys’ training facility the morning after the fight occurred (but obviously before news of it broke) where he praised Jones for his good behavior.

Wonder how the Commissioner will take being played for a fool …
