101 Years?

By fitsnews • on October 3, 2008

The Chicago Cubs are one game away from extending their 101-year World Series drought following a 10-3 shellacking at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers last night.

The Cubbie collapse prompted their irascible manager Lou Piniella to bash a Japanese player, Kosuke Fukedome, who probably can’t even speak English or read all the trash Piniella talked about him in the papers today.

Nice move, Sweet Lou.

Anyway, we cursed Piniella last year after he inexplicably decided to give then-reliever Ryan Dempster some extra work in the final game of the regular season, ostensibly to help prepare him for another playoff series the Cubs were … duh … already predestined to lose.

Although utterly inconsequential in real life, the four runs Dempster gave up that day capped the greatest fantasy baseball collapse ever, an implosion which cost Sic Willie’s FITS Fartknockers their first-ever Great Santini League fantasy baseball championship.

Incidentally, Dempster gave up seven walks and took the loss in Game 1 of the Dodgers-Cubs series Wednesday night.

What can we say, Cubbies? Karma’s a bitch …
