Praying For Tim Tebow?
You may have thought that Florida’s stunning loss to Ole Miss last week was newsworthy, but a Sunshine State pastor believes it is much, much more serious than that.
In fact, according to Pastor Eric Brown of Gainesville’s Campus Church of Christ, the loss has shaken the heavenly firmament and could be the harbinger of a fall from grace that will devastate Christianity.
According to the Miami Herald, Florida’s Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Tim Tebow is the subject of a divine crusade in the wake of the Gators’ sloppy 31-30 defeat at the hands of the Rebels.
“I’m going to pray that [Tebow] is true to his faith because if he falls and gets caught up in some kind of scandal it will be bad for Christianity,” (Gainesville Pastor Eric) Brown said.
Brown doesn’t know Tebow but says the quarterback is an important role model. The minister says if Tebow gets into trouble, then the image of Christians could suffer.
“I know the story of David, so we know it’s possible for all of us to fall,” Brown said.
Tebow is home-schooled and comes from a devout Christian family, but the last time we checked he wasn’t King David. And even if he was, it’s not like David hooking up with Bathsheba (editor’s note: NSFW here) killed it for God’s chosen people or anything.
And by the way, if you’re wondering where we found that crazy picture of the King’s seductress, it’s on this freaky Christian porn site. Yeah … who knew Bible girls got so crazy?
