Live-Bloggin’ The VP Debate

We rarely “live-blog” around here because to be perfectly honest, we’re against the Twittification of society.

Of course “live-blogging” does generate a boatload of hits, as we found out during the 2008 GOP primary season, so we’re not averse to trying it every once in awhile … which makes it not unlike our attitude on “going Greek.”

Anyway, tonight’s Vice-Presidential debate does seem like a worthwhile live-blogging event.

First of all, it will be on television, meaning it automatically warrants our attention. Second, it comes amidst a flurry of controversy over whether or not the debate’s moderator, PBS’ Gwen Ifill, is in the tank for the Democrats. Third, it comes at a critical time for GOP veep nominee Sarah Palin, who after getting wall-to-wall love a month ago is now realizing that staying popular on the national stage isn’t easy.

Seriously, people. Both sides have been playing the “expectations game” on this thing all week.

Moderating our latest live-blogging experiment tonight will be none other than Mande Wilkes, who continues to view both Palin and her eyeglass selections with a healthy degree of skepticism.

Mande will not only be sharing her thoughts on how Palin and Democratic VP nominee Joe Biden are performing, but she’ll also be pulling from your comments and e-mails throughout the night as YOU follow the action as well.

In fact, if you’ve got an observation on the debate you want Mande to post or reply to, we’ll have her set up tonight to take your e-mails …

I’m mad that the Office isn’t coming on tonight for this debate – I think that’s more important that this debate.

    Lee-

We love you … and we’re with you. The Office is absolutely much more important than this debate.

NBC has “My Name is Earl” on from 8:00 to 9:00 PM followed by the debate. There is a good chance many people will not see any difference between the two. Although I would give Jamie a slight nod over Sarah.

How many times is Biden going to only attack McCain and not talk about solutions and anything substantial? The only straight shootier is Palin. It’s old politics verses new. Biden is an old politician who knows old politics and political tactics. It’s a debate, not a he said she said competition! Nobody cares about that! We as the people need answers and solutions not hearsay. I don’t care to hear about what Biden says that McCain said 5 months ago. If you are running for the VP office, what can Joe Biden bring to the table? He hasn’t said anything because he has nothing to bring but old politics. Enough said. God bless you Governor Palin!

    Jediry,

Are you serious. She’s barely a Govenor. Alaska is like Haiti taking in aid as its main source of life, only its oil money. Do you really think the solutions are going to come from Alaska. How about her answer when she was directly asked for a strategy. She answered some other question that was written down by one of Johns staffers. Be proud that she didnt have another SNL moment stammering. It must have been a herculean effort on Bidens part not to gut her on so many issues. Is this really the very best that John could come up with as his running mate? For the record Im a registered republican and have voted with my party every time. Not this time. THe GOP has got to get its act together.
