Former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and popular DJ Adam Goldstein were critically injured in a plane crash that claimed the lives of four people in Columbia, S.C. shortly before midnight last night.
Barker and Goldstein were taking off in a private Lear Jet for Van Nuys, California when the plane reportedly started flashing sparks and skipped off the runway, crashing into a nearby road.
Initial reports were that former Jane’s Addiction front man Perry Farrell – who performed with Barker and Goldstein (a.k.a. DJ AM) at a free concert last night in Columbia – was also on the plane, but the website TMZ.com is reporting this morning that Farrell is safe and was not one of the two passengers who perished along with the plane’s pilot and co-pilot.
Musician Gavin DeGraw was also initially said to have been on the plane with Barker and Goldstein, but those reports also turned out to be false.
In addition to his status as one of the greatest rock-n-roll drummers of all time, Barker is widely-known for his starring role in “Meet the Barkers,†a reality TV show on MTV that chronicled his marriage to beauty queen Shanna Moakler. The two filed for divorce in 2006, with Barker briefly becoming a paparazzi item with popslut Paris Hilton.
