U.S. Congressman Gresham Barrett sat down yesterday with SC Hotline hottie Caroline Elliott to discuss some energy bill he just filed up in Washington, but not surprisingly most of the talk centered around his future political plans.
Specifically, Barrett is running for governor of South Carolina in 2010 – which is such common knowledge that we’ve been addressing it as far back as March … of last year.
Anyway, Elliott’s line of questioning in this Hotline interview is interesting in that she goes beyond the typical “are you running” nonsense and poses some fairly direct questions to Barrett about what he thinks of his prospective GOP opponents, how his administration would differ from his predecessor and whether or not the South Carolina governor’s office (as currently configured) can really get much accomplished on behalf of the citizens of the state.
Barrett petty much took a pass on the first question, but it was interesting to see how he handled the latter two.
Props to Caroline for not being afraid to put a Congressman on the spot (in her first interview, no less), and we’ll let you be the judge on Barrett’s answers after you’ve watched the video above …
How did Gresham Barrett handle questions about his gubernatorial plans?
- Great - get him in the Governor's Office ASAP! (48%, 33 Votes)
- Still deciding about this guy (32%, 22 Votes)
- Not so hot - he sounded like a good ole boy! (20%, 14 Votes)

Re. your comment Fits…
Gresham is a little boring I think.
Ok guy, doesn’t seem to stir up a lot of strong feelings on either side of the aisle.
He would make a more than adequate Gov but if there is going to be someone to shakeup the structure of our state govt and grow the power of the executive it ain’t this one.

Tracy Edge for Governor. We need someone to challenge the education establishment and fight to restore property rights to citizens by limiting govt regulation.
