Facing Down Adversity

A week after losing to Sic Willie look-alike Kyle Orton and Da Bears, it certainly appeared as if Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts were destined to fall to 0-2 for the first time since 1998 – Manning’s rookie season.

Down 15-0 in the third quarter against the Minnesota Vikings, the Colts’ sputtering offense looked lost again – due in no small part to the absence of center Jeff Saturday.

Every bit the on-field coach as his celebrated teammate, Saturday is the O-line’s quarterback, a three-time Pro Bowler who barks out blocking assignments to the Colts’ front five while Manning directs traffic in the offensive backfield.

With him out of the lineup again this week – and with Manning still showing signs of rust from missing all of preseason with a knee injury – Indy just hasn’t been Indy.

And yet somehow, the Colts found a way to put 18 points up on one of the NFL’s best defenses in the final sixteen minutes of the game, earning a come-from-behind 18-15 victory that evened their record at 1-1 and temporarily righted a sinking ship.

Im so not a Colts fan and it sucked to see them pull out a victory against Minnesota yesterday.
