It’s A Race

John McCain - who has been left for dead at least twice in the current U.S. Presidential election - is running neck and neck with popular Democrat Barack Obama, according to polling data released today by Rasmussen Reports.

The poll found Obama leading McCain nationally by just a point - 46%-45% - which is a statistical dead heat. Just a few short weeks ago, Obama appeared to be cruising, enjoying a double-digit cushion in several national polls.

You can check out all the information included in the Rasmussen poll by clicking here.

Taken prior to McCain’s big convention speech last night (and largely prior to VP nominee Sarah Palin’s speech the night before), the poll also shows that a majority of Americans (51%) approve of McCain’s selection of Palin, while only 32% disapprove.

Polls over the next few days will likely show a “post-convention bounce” for the Republican ticket, particularly given Palin’s stratospheric television ratings (37 million Americans watched her speech Wednesday night) and the near-universal praise she received for her big speech.

Not surprisingly, Palin has become the rock star of the ticket, dominating news coverage across the nation and endearing herself to both the party’s base as well as independent voters.

Will it continue to be smooth sailing for the ticket?

Longtime McCain supporter and veteran S.C. political hand Bob McAlister likes what he’s seeing, but warns that tough days are ahead for the GOP’s new feature attraction:

“Beginning … after McCain’s speech, they’ll compare Sarah’s speech to his, and conclude that hers was brilliant while his paled in comparison,” McAlister wrote in a post on the website South Carolina Conservative. “They’ll say his tepid speech cooled down last night’s raucous convention. In short, they’ll use Sarah against John.”

“That’s how they’ll get back on the offensive,” McAlister adds. “You watch. You can thank me later.”

The national poll you mention is worthless, since winning states is what gets people elected. Using state polls, Obama is still significantly in the lead using nearly every estimation. Here’s a conglomeration of electoral college results calculated by a variety of methods: http://3bluedudes.com/ProjectDatabase.htm

Dear concerned citizens of America and mass media of the U.S.A.

As a concerned disabled American Veteran and American citizen, I consider it my duty and responsibility to address the following critical issues facing the voters of our Greatgrand nation, the United States of America [USA].

The citizens of the United States of America [USA] have the ultimate power and responsibility to elect the Right Ticket with the right joint “temperament, judgment, and statesmanship” to lead our nation as well as change our nation’s present and future moral, political, economic, educational, health care, energy, military, and foundational soul.
In my firm professional, personal, and political opinion, the media should help the common voter to explore and discuss the following attributes of the present Republican and Democratic presidential slates:
1. Does the joint ticket have a calm, cool, and collected ” temper and impulse” [Presidential Temperament]?
2. Does each ticket have sound and sustained “Judgment and Caliber”?
3. Does each ticket have a “presidential depth and degree” in regard to their purpose, policies, and positions?
4. Does each ticket have adequate, “understanding and knowledge” of workings around Washington”?
5. Does each ticket have enough “vigor, wisdom and Vision” for the future of our beloved Great-grand Nation?
6. Does each ticket possess enough joint foreign policy experience and ex-poser based on “American Values, Virtues, Vastness, and strong soul”?
7. Are their campaign talk, slogans, ads, plans, and programs based on facts and are they free of fear, fiction, frivolous labels, unfair attacks, negativity, and impulsivity? [Danger to country and countries mission[s].
8. Ultimate irony is he stool change message and uses Palin to kill the messenger. Maverick McCain not good for USA and White House.

As a Independent registered voter I have decided to vote for Obama-Biden ticket. I am sure they will protect our national security, Strong’s, stamina and strong soul. Rebuild our nation from bottom up in all areas of need, OBAMA-BIDEN ticket will once again restore and rebuild our global standing with the use of maximum international firm diplomacy and minimal force if and when indicated.

Yours sincerely,

COL. A.M. Khajawall [Ret] MD., Forensic psychiatrist, Colonel, US-AR / MC Combat Stress Control[Ret], Disabled American Veteran and Iraq Freedom team.

PS: This nation will not buy into kitchen sink strategy. We are getting deeper into internal and external holes thru these attacks and world is laughing on us and enjoying our partisan Pitt Bull wounds. I am sure GOP.RC, FOX, RUSH, ROVE.And McCain’s his surrogates will fail to dupe, deceive, and deprive USA its deserved leadership.

Curiously, I considered each of these questions and came up with the opposite conclusion. Someone should take this guy’s computer away, before he posts this same silly message on every political website there is. Ooops, too late.

Respectfully, Colonel, were you drunk when you typed this? Half the time I have no idea what you are talking about, what with your misspellings, broken sentences, and general mad-man ranting. How about rewrite this for us when you aren’t drunk, and maybe we’ll get a better hold on your reasoning.

Col. Khajawall, in order to help me better understand your post, could you clarify your stated military disability as physical or mental. I in no way mean to dishonor you sir, I am just trying to figure why someone would write such bullshit.

John McCain is going to have a hard time
winning this election but i think it was somewhat smart
to choose a young woman to follow his lead.

Is COL. A.M.Khajawall really a colonel or is this a made up name. Military physicians are technically non-combatants (like chaplains) according to the geneva convention. If you are a non-combatant , where did your disability come from? Funny how you are a shill for the Obama team.

He and John Kerry banged their hips trying to get out from behinds their desks too quickly. It left a bruise and everything.
