Tamed Expectations

One thing about getting your ass whooped on national television is the opportunity it affords for introspection. And having endured quite the ass-whooping last weekend, it certainly appears that Clempsun head football coach Tommy Bowden is availing himself of that opportunity.

Bowden, whose Tigers suffered a humiliating defeat last Saturday at the hands of the Alabama Crimson Tide, got the first verdicts in on their performance yesterday afternoon when they dropped from #9 to #22 in the USA Today Coaches’ poll and tumbled from #9 all the way out of the AP Top 25. Jeff Sagarin’s computer rankings have the Tigers at #39.

According to the Charleston Post and Courier , Bowden’s introspection actually turned into more of a group therapy session.

Specifically, he called around to fellow coaches Nick Saban, Mark Richt, Frank Beamer and (and presumably his pappy, Bobby) to get some pointers on how to bounce back from such a disastrous early-season defeat.

So will they bounce back?

We sure as hell expect so given the cupcakes remaining on Clempsun’s lackluster schedule. The Citadel? S.C. State? N.C. State? Duke?

Jeez … Clempsun’s Tri-Delt powder puff squad could beat those four teams.

Anyway, the truth (as much as we hate to admit it) is that there’s no way the farmers are as bad as they looked last Saturday night. We still think quarterback Cullen Harper is going to have a big year, and anybody expecting the Tigers’ backfield of James Davis and CJ Spiller to combine for just 21 rushing yards again is dreaming.

Of course, it sure was a lot of fun to watch the kitties go down. Especially the part where half of the Georgia Dome crowd (the illiterate half dressed in orange) fled for the exits while the Bam-nation reveled in its upset.

And while we wouldn’t want to be The Citadel right about now, but stranger things have happened

Instead of Thunder and Lightning, the running back duo should be dubbed “Three” and “Out.”

Well, next time Carolina loses their next game, I hope to see a story like this one about how awful they played. Hopefully you will be able to write it tomorrow when they lose to Wake (Like last year). And USC played SC State last year and they just played NC State as well. Yea so what USC schedule is more difficult than Clemson’s is, but I dont think Clemson can help who they play?! USC plays Wofford, UAB, and Mississippi this year.

Sick willies jealousy of clemson couldn’t be more apparent. To refresh your memory let me mention this, 64-37. Thats all I’m gonna say cause thats all I have to stay. I’d rather tell you in person but then again I’d rather not drive down to that #$^%hole city that you plague and that the Shamecocks routinely reach below mediocrity every year.

Yah yer write Will, another “quality win by USC” against Vandy. USC is sure going places. Turns out USC is just as over rated as the Tigers, but its just another ordinary year for the Shamecocks. Looks like Clemsons going to have it even easier this year

Clemson is a really good football team. In the first game clemson made a lot of mistake against alabama which beat them 34-10. But I think rest of clemson football games they should win because there schedule is easy. clemson has great football players if they lose another game that shows that the Acc conference is weak. GO Clemson. 0h and another thing they say vanderbilt should be in the Acc conference instead of the Sec conference. But Vanderbilt beats South carolina 24-17. So I guess South carolina should be in the ACC.

I think the tigers will come back!!! Adleast they lost to a good team like Alabama instead of a team like Vanderbilt. Clemson will step up and start their winning streak in no time.USC is going to get their little butts kicked by Georgia very soon also and I can’t wait.

I hope the Tigers will come back after their loss against Alabama. Adleast they lost to a good team unlike carolina who lost to Vandy. Clemson has alot of talent and i think they are getting ready to show it off.
