All Palin, All The Time

By fitsnews • on September 3, 2008

Let’s face it, people, the world is getting a crash course in all things Sarah Palin.

It’s been less than a week since this super hot hockey mom turned political reformer was named as John McCain’s vice presidential pick - and less than forty-eight hours since the world learned her 17-year-old daughter was having a baby.

Glancing at Google News, there have been literally hundreds of thousands of articles written about the first-term Alaska governor - within the last five days.

And needless to say, some of us have been a little too busy fantasizing about Palin (a process we started over a month ago) to assess the impact she’s had on the presidential election.

Our girl Mande weighed in with her thoughts earlier this week, but it’s obviously taking some time for our founding editor to stop staring at her (long) legs long enough to form a coherent thought.

Anyway, to say Palin’s impact on the race has been seismic is to court an award for understatement of the young millennium. It’s been much more than that.

To McCainiacs, she’s the greatest Vice-Presidential pick in history. To Obamicons, she’s the worst.

To Obamicons, she’s woefully inexperienced. To McCainiacs, she’s more experienced than Obama.

And as for the fact that she’s about to become a grandmother (although not in the way social conservatives would typically want to become grandmothers), the gap of opinion on that stickiest of all wickets is likewise as obsequious as it is oceanic.

To McCainiacs, Palin’s bombshell is proof that their man is willing to do the right thing in spite of political convention. To Obamicons, it’s proof McCain is not above exploiting even a teenage pregnancy.

So … which end is up? What’s the truth in this topsy-turvy world of a woman most of us had never heard of five days ago?

Let’s start by categorically dismissing the fringe emotion that Palin’s selection/ revelation have generated amongst the chattering classes of pre-formed political opinion.

For example, we’ve already been blasted for failing to call on Palin to withdraw from the race based on her daughter’s pregnancy.

Apparently, our rather pointed criticism of former presidential candidate John Edwards - who stayed in the Democratic race despite his wife’s recurrence of cancer - should now be directed at Palin for bailing on her daughter in a time of need.

Well, the last time we checked having a baby wasn’t usually fatal. And besides, it’s technically not the grandmother’s job to raise the child - as anybody who’s tried to land an emergency babysitter on a weekend can probably tell you.

Having said that, maybe it’s just the age of Juno and Jamie Lynn Spears, but the taboo of teenage girls getting pregnant has been dramatically demystified, deconstructed and determined to be not as big a deal as it used to be - even as it was a year ago.

It’s honestly not unlike the peace Democrats have made with themselves over welfare babies.

Social conservatives may still shudder at the notion of premarital sex, but our guess is that more than a few of them have parented some promiscuous kids of their own. And besides, Palin’s daughter is pulling a Madonna and “keeping her baby,” which will no doubt endear her to the pro-life crowd McCain has always struggled to win over.

As if all that weren’t enough, social conservatives are notoriously hypocritical and would probably forgive Palin for anything short of hijacking Obama’s Messiah complex, because that would be blasphemous, obviously.

But the question remains, at the end of the day, does Palin help or hurt McCain?

You know, that’s just it … for all the talking heads on TV, the hundreds of thousands of analysis-happy articles, the carefully-crafted statements and over-wrought strategic surreptitiousness surrounding both campaigns, the answer to that question ultimately boils down to something that might surprise you … Sarah Palin’s ability.

Wait, say what?

Look, people. Democratic veep pick Joe Biden is certainly an asshole, but our guess is he’s no slouch in a debate.

Palin will, quite simply, either sink or swim when she goes up against him - as for that matter she will sink or swim whenever she finds herself confronted with any of the dozens of other potentially pernicious pitfalls she’ll face over the next two excruciatingly over-scrutinized months of her life.

She’ll get some benefit of the doubt, to be sure, but not much.

And that’s the amazing thing about the American electorate.

As much as politicians enjoy talking down to us and launching meaningless rhetoric completely over our heads (and as much as the media enjoys sensationalizing and polarizing people’s reaction to the politicians - particularly when it has nothing to do with governing), there’s a missing ingredient to the whole Palin phenomenon.

Come election day, millions of people will cast ballots without caring that Sarah Palin is a woman, or attractive, or has a daughter who got knocked up.

Simply put, they’ll vote on whether she sank or swim in the only area that counts - her skills.

Watch out McCain you might cr-a-a-a-sh!

Fits do you think now that it appears very likely (if not confirmed) that she was a member and still gives opening messages to the Alaskan Independence Party, whose goal is secession from the country, that it will affect the electorate’s mind set? Her husband was also a registered member for at least seven years as well. This is obviously much more important and politically relevant than wether her daughter followed the same path as her mother in getting pregnant prior to marriage.

If Sanford gave an address via teleconfrence or otherwise to a secessionist S.C. group I would have to think people would consider him out of his mind. None the less, maybe it is because in S.C. were willing to show we’d actually do it?

Either way I wonder if far right wingers will try to spin secession into the family values line, or maybe into the or a smear on her because she’s a woman?

Just like Americans voted for Bush . . . based on his skills?

By BigMadMamaBear on September 3rd, 2008 at 8:23 am

Really. All about her all the time.

How about a little respect for the dead?

Rest in peace, Jerry Reed. We’ll miss you.

“To Obamicons, it’s proof McCain is not above exploiting even a teenage pregnancy.”

You have got to be kidding. MCCAIN is the one exploiting this? Get a clue. The Left is using a 17 year old girl to attack Palin and try to force her off the ticket.

Anon (#2) - They didn’t vote for Bush … they voted for Gore. The Supreme Court voted for Bush.

By You gotta be kidding on September 3rd, 2008 at 9:33 am

You got to be kidding… Now the Supreme Court voted for Bush? There have been several independant groups have recounted the Fl. votes. Bush won every time. If Gore were so competent then he would have aggreed to a total recount not just the counties that he knew he won.

You people are totally amazing

In an exclusive photo, FITSNews reveals that Sarah Palin has crabs. OK, it’s only one crab, but it’s still the worst case I’ve ever seen.

Wilderness Girl may have a bad case of ticks, too. She will need an official TICK CHECKER @ every port. Sure, there will be many volunteers.

But, Nit Pick @ Your Own Risk.

I’m still looking for ‘long legs’???
That photo reveals one thing……… KILL, KILL, KILL!!

By Pat Buchanan on September 3rd, 2008 at 11:03 am

You gotta be kidding

Are you including those votes cast by old, blind, jewish voters (typically Democratic voters). Who accidentally voted for Pat Buchanan? Yes, the physical votes went to Bush, there is no denying that. However, a lot of the votes meant for Gore, went to Pat Buchanan. A lot of people had problems distinguishing who they were voting for.

By D.Reinert on September 3rd, 2008 at 11:58 am

Hmmm, secession from the union, when I see how much money Washington costs me and what kind of overpaid Bozos are up there spending it, maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea for the southern states to try again. We send billions of our tax dollars to Uncle Sam and get nuclear waste in return. C’mon, look at our choices for president, it gets worse every election. Could we do any worse on our own? I see this as a good thing, maybe she’ll finally be a federal bureaucrat who actually respects states rights.

Speaking of Jewish voters:

Joe Lieberman’s kutzpah keep tracking higher and higher - his left jabs (pun intended) were quicker than any seen since Cassius Clay - and just as pleasing to the ear as Thompson’s body blows to the Obama myth.

Look for Palin to deliver the knock-out (damn, another intended pun) tonite! :)

By Silence Dogood on September 3rd, 2008 at 2:11 pm

D. Reinert, trust me, I had no doubts that if Sarah Palin were part and parcel of a party that wanted seccession from the United States, that the GOP instead of seeing that as just an ‘incy’ bit unpatriotic would instead make some hokey argument about “NOW THAT’s FAMILY VALUES!”

While you make the usual anti-government grumbling that most of do, this group is actually serious. If you are serious too, then maybe Palin really is your candidate.

By rick on September 3rd, 2008 at 4:45 pm

This is old news, Sarah Palin has been a registered Republican for 20+ years. She’s never been a member of the Independent party. Her husband gave a speech a couple of times. Listen, if sucession was a crime, South Carolina would be under lockdown,I hear about it daily. How many bodies were in that room? Enough to make a difference? I didn’t think so…..get real she’s already answered this one and has been found innocent. You want to continue beating her up…have at it. When she’s tired of it, don’t be surprised when she rips you’re nads off. Go Sarah

Scandal over? I think not. Scandal has just been given a little more light!

Please see the following pictures:

The truth WILL come out. Here are the photos, page down half way and see evidence from the summer myspace page of Mercede who is the sister of baby-daddy Levi Johnston. In the captions, she refers to Sarah Palin as “mommy-in-law” and the baby Trig as her new baby brother.

http://cajunboy.tumblr.com/

The myspace page has since been taken down, but the evidence remains. Someone will talk. It’s a small town. Lies have short legs. RNC: Get the truth out now and do some damage control. All you finger-pointing people telling others to lay off, how about sitting back and saying, ok maybe there’s some truth to be told. Maybe you should just shut up before you look anymore stupid and judgmental and un-Christian like. Those preaching the loudest usually have the biggest skeletons to hide.

Let the girl have her baby, out in public, and please let the mom be proud of them both. Is Bristol pregnant now? Who knows. Maybe maybe not. But she IS the mother of Trig.

And, here’s the Washingotn Post with the news about grandmom cutting funding in Alaska for help for pregnant teens. How ironic. Don’t teach them about birth control, and then throw them out on the street when they decide to keep their babies.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/09/02/palin_slashed_funding_to_help.html?hpid=artslot

Still want to defend her? Still?

How about her vocal and RECENT views about seceding from the United States? Is this patriotism? The AIP’s goals are to infiltrate major political parties with the end mission of seceding from the US. Take all that oil and run. Nice. Good job AIP.

McCain’s vetters need to be fired.

By Here we go, way too fa-a-a-st! on September 3rd, 2008 at 8:03 pm

Hey Rick, for the record she made a speech to the convention while Governor, not her husband - of course on that you may be right, he prehaps did too. I also appreciate how flippantly you speak of secession from the United States. Where the hell do you live a David Koresh convention? I live in S.C. and have for a few decades and can’t say “I hear talk about secession everday, big freakin’ deal!”

By James on September 3rd, 2008 at 11:48 pm

WOW - not only did Governor Palin deliver the knockout - she also field dressed the carcASS formerly known as Obama.

By rick on September 4th, 2008 at 1:34 pm

“By Here we go” Talk is talk and these good old boys are always talking…open your ears, you may hear something. She taped a speech as Governor the same as any good governor would to a group of constituates. She’s been a registered Repub since the 80’s and has been vetted as such…right along with her lack of involvement with the independent group.
By Peace: well you’re good for one thing….parrot.
By James: You’re right, she showed the world she’s got guts, class, and the ability to rip your head off, defecate down your neck all the while smiling and being charming.

Warning: Bill O’Rielly is giving Barbeque a chance this evening since his camp called and demanded all or nothing. Instead of being a man and refusing, Bill oppted to give prime time to Barbeque during the Repub convention….Fair and Balanced….Stupid more likely.
