Few things in life please us more than watching Clempsun’s football team lose. One of those things is watching Clempsun’s football team get blown out … not unlike the way the Kitties got taken to the woodshed tonight 34-10 by Alabama in the Georgia Dome.
It’s funny … we asked two weeks ago who Clempsun would choke against this year, and it sure didn’t take long to find out.
The Crimson Tide, a middle-of-the-road team in what is clearly the best conference in all of college football, extended the SEC’s dominance over the ACC (a.k.a. A-She-She) by laying the wood to the ninth-ranked Tigers in a big way.
Alabama piled up 419 yards against the Tigers’ defense while holding the coach Tommy Bowden‘s offense to just 189 total yards – which is 214 yards less than they averaged per game a year ago.
Even more impressive, the Tide held Clempsun’s vaunted backfield of James Davis and CJ Spiller to just 21 yards rushing … combined.
Thunder and lightning? Not exactly, although Spiller did show his stuff on a 96-yard touchdown return.
Clemson (0-1, 0-0 ACC) may still go on to win the ACC title, but it remains to be seen whether or not that’s really much of an accomplishment.
In addition to South Carolina’s 34-0 defeat over NC State on Thursday, No. 17 Virginia Tech fell on the road today to East Carolina, while Virginia got pasted at home 52-7 by Southern Cal.
Hell, we’re starting to wonder if there are some intramural squads on SEC campuses that could beat the All-ACC team.
UPDATE – Oh, and we’ve totally made R.E.M.’s “Orange Crush” today’s feature video …

Kitties shouldn’t play with pachyderms. It’s an unsightly mess.

Hopefully our Gamecocks will end Clemson’s season in the manner that it began.

On second thought…I just listened to the REM song, which used to be one of my favorites, I retract my last statement of “A**” and replace it with…
“F%&k*r”.

The taters’ biggest problems is misplaced arrogance stemming from their success in the 80s (pre-FSU, Boston College, and Virginia Tech in the ACC) and the pious choirboy head coach. They think that because Bowden can mysteriously rally the taters to beat USC 90% of the time that and that they can routinely come in second or third place in their conference division, that they can compete against SEC teams. But Tammy only as a 25% success rate against SEC teams that aren’t USC.
Season prediction: Taters will run through their remaining non-conference foes except USC, and will slip against Wake Forest and Boston College. No ACC title this year, although after last weekend’s ACC fiasco, an ACC title is no longer something in which a self-respecting program could take pride.

great story on the HIGHER over-rated tigers who got blown out by an SEC team. The tigers should know not to mess with the SEC and are going to be in trouble when South Carolina rolls into tiger territory(AKA:Little kids playground)
