The title is a sad commentary of how clueless people are when it comes to the world of special needs. Alaskans are just like everyone else. To call them retarded because they re-elected Ted Stevens is just sad. It’s just not okay to take away someone’s dignity with a casual remark.
What’s even sadder is that it usually takes having a family member with special needs to fully understand how painful that word can be.
No one is trying to take away your right to use the word retarded anytime you want. Just asking for a little decency.

Better to have the lower 48 pay for improvements(pork) than Alaska residents. After all how much gets done without a state tax, low or no-existant property tax and an annual payout to every citizen in alaska from the petroleum trust. Lets face it guys, these Alaskans are smart as hell in getting us to support them and would be foolish to give up on their number 1 forager.
