Lieberman On McCain’s VP Shortlist

ARE WE PROPHETIC, OR WHAT?

FITSNews - August 9, 2008 - A day after being vindicated for calling Democrat John Edwards an “insensitive prick” last March (a comment which got us dumped by SC Hotline and blistered on Charlotte, N.C. radio), it turns out our unerring crystal ball is once again proving to be right on the money

Five months ago, we published a report based on a confidential strategy memo “peeked” (not leaked) to us by a senior adviser to GOP presidential nominee John McCain.  One of the memo’s main recommendations for “Securing the Center” was the selection of Independent Connecticut Senator (and former Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee) Joe Lieberman as McCain’s running mate.

Nothing in the intervening months has dampened this speculation, and today McCain’s campaign made it official that Lieberman is, in fact, on the short list … from the Financial Times:

Joe Lieberman, the former Democratic vice-presidential nominee who has endorsed John McCain, is being vetted as a potential running mate for the Republican presidential hopeful, according to an adviser to Mr McCain’s campaign.

Mr Lieberman, who has campaigned for the Arizona senator, has long been considered an unconventional but plausible choice for Mr McCain.

Although Democrats have rejected Mr McCain’s image as a maverick politician, Mr Lieberman’s support for the presumptive Republican nominee has, much to the chagrin of his former colleagues, helped to boost Mr McCain’s reputation as a bi-partisan legislator with friends on both sides of the aisle. Mr Lieberman, a staunch supporter of Israel, could also help Mr McCain win over Jewish voters.

Obviously, it’s still up in the air as to whether McCain will actually pick Lieberman or not, as the memo we were so casually and briefly shown five months ago only listed him as the top name on a hypothetical short list.

Still, it’s another example of how we roll several months ahead of the rest of the country … even if there are only eight of you benefiting from our clairvoyance.

Oh boy. Two Democrats on the Republican ticket. That should energize the base.

Gosh what a quandary.

Joe Lieberman is a righteous dude — but he would be taking Mitt Romney’s seat at that presidential table and WE WANT ROMNEY ‘SAT.’

However it is we have to go about it!!!!!!!
