When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong
DETROIT’S MAYOR IS FACING FIFTEEN LONG, BUT STILL NEGOTIATING TUNNEL DEALS
FITSNews - August 7, 2008 - In the latest example of “the man” holding us down, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick (above ) is in jail today … and amazingly it’s not for beating up Eminem or failing to show sufficient interest in ice hockey.
Nope, Kilpatrick is in the slammer for traveling out of the country to negotiate a tunnel contract with Windsor, Ontario - i.e. official city business - which leads us to wonder exactly how the city of Detroit’s official city business is supposed to be conducted these days. Anyway, from CNN:
Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was jailed Thursday after a judge found he had violated terms of his bond by taking an unauthorized trip to Canada last month.
Kilpatrick, who is facing felony charges of perjury, obstruction of justice and misconduct of office, had been free on $75,000 bond.
Wayne County Sheriff Warren Evans told reporters the mayor will be treated like any other high-profile inmate at the jail. Measures will be taken to ensure his security as well as that of other inmates at the facility, the sheriff added.
Aside from the fact that Kwame looks like he can take care of himself … just how many celebrity inmates does the Wayne County slammer attract every month? And more importantly, can’t the mayor just be like “let me go, bitches” and order them to oblige? After all, what’s the point of being mayor if you can’t say “let me go, bitches” and have your peeps roll the Escalade around?
Oh … we looked into that whole tunnel thing, too, and it turns out it was dark and scary inside. More at 11 …

Any guy from the Detroit area knows why you head to Windsor and it has nothing to do with negotiating anything… other than the price of a trip to the VIP room.
