SOUTH CAROLINA’S OCEAN WATER NOT SO BAD

FITSNews – August 1, 2008 – Since we find it funny anytime whacko environmentalists get caught in a pickle, we couldn’t help but chuckle at this item in today’s Charleston (S.C.) Post and Courier

An environmental group — after rating South Carolina’s beaches the worst in the Southeast for water quality and Sullivan’s Island as the seventh-worst in the state — backed off its report Thursday after being challenged by state regulators.

“To our regret, we discovered after our report was released that U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s monitoring data for South Carolina were incorrect,” wrote Mark Dorfman, an author of Natural Resource Defense Council’s annual national beach report for 2007, to Shannon Berry, S.C. Health and Environmental Control’s beach monitoring program coordinator.

The new numbers mirror the state’s own numbers. For example, the NRDC report characterized South Carolina as the only state in the Southeast whose beaches had more than 10 percent of its water quality tests show more bacteria than is considered safe. The revised number puts the state at 6 percent, roughly on a par with other states in the region.

Basically, this just goes to show you that environmentalists are pathological liars who cannot be trusted … particularly in South Carolina.

It also goes to show you that making sensational generalizations is lots of fun!

Can somebody explain to me why environmentalists don’t care about Santee Cooper? I mean, I love Wendell Berry and Rod Dreher and all. But I know Richard Quinn ghostwrites (or used to ghostwrite) a lot for Timmerman (Chairman of SCANA). I guess that didn’t clash with the SC Policy Council back then, or did it? I’m a little lost here…

Actually, this just goes to show you that environmentalists trust the EPA, and that the EPA makes mistakes. No lying needed.

The environmental community has challenged almost everything Santee Cooper has done recently. The coal plant being the prime example. Not saying they are right, jus sayin.

And governor moonbeam tried to split them up a while back….

Hey Will Folks, how about a little commentary on the wastefulness of a quasi public utility with no shareholder, legislator, or citizen accountability?

    Pussy.
