Braves, Fartknockers Surrender
TRADE DEADLINE SIGNALS END OF HOPE FOR BOTH SQUADS
FITSNews – July 30, 2008 – A year ago – when he has wearing a FITS Fartknockers uniform – slugging first baseman Mark Teixeira (above ) helped lead Sic Willie’s fantasy baseball team to its first ever appearance in the Great Santini League World Series.
Of course, we all know the tragedy that ensued shortly thereafter, an epic last-day collapse which our founding editor’s team has yet to recover from. Which leads us to this season’s ongoing “fantasy malaise,” and the Fartknockers’ subsequent hoisting of the white flag and imminent fire sale from their talented but underachieving 2008 roster.
Like the Atlanta Braves – who dealt Teixeira to the Los Angeles Angels yesterday – there will be no playoff appearance this year for America’s favorite fantasy team, which is currently languishing in eighth place in the Santini standings.
“It falls on me to make decisions that will keep this franchise competitive” Sic told ESPN’s Erin Andrews last night, shortly before thrilling her with his every touch. “We had a playoff-caliber team, I just didn’t perform in my managerial duties.”
