This Crap Doesn’t Equal Jobs

SOUTH CAROLINA’S LEGISLATIVE LEADERS ARE EVEN MORE RETARDED THAN WE THOUGHT

FITSNews - July 29, 2008 - South Carolina’s “Republican” leadership unveiled its new “Jobs” plan today, and wouldn’t ya know it’s a bunch of shiny new government programs without a friggin’ tax cut anywhere in sight.

If this Stalinist approach to economic development sounds familiar, it’s exactly what we just did in South Carolina for the umpteenth time in our ass-backward history … once again to absolutely no avail.

On top of that, this “Jobs plan” looks like something a friggin’ fourth-grader put together using crayons and construction paper, except it’s not quite as sophisticated or visually-engaging.

Seriously, people. Is this load of governmental horse shit about “knowledge sector councils,” “pillars of success,” and “innovation pipelines” the best our legislative leaders have to offer? Because if so we could have wiped our own asses, smeared the poop on a canvas and still had a much better-looking “Jobs plan” than this.

Perhaps the architects of this latest bureaucratic experiment - Bobby Harrell, Glenn McConnell, Hugh Leatherman and Dan Cooper (a.k.a. the “four horsemen” of South Carolina’s ongoing apocalypse) - should consider the jobs they could have created if they had (gasp!) given our taxpayers back even half of the $2 billion in new government spending they added to our state budget over the past four years.

Of course that would have actually required growing a pair of testicles and telling a few of the well-heeled lobbyists in the State House lobby “no” for a change.

Oh, and as if there was any suspense as to what the “other party of big government” thought of the plan, here’s what Senate Democratic Leader John Land had to say:

“I applaud my colleagues in the General Assembly for proposing these initiatives and I look forward to working with them to enact an economic development plan.”

Of course he does. Why wouldn’t he love yet another government-sponsored effort to grow the economy, which as we’ve said time and time again only ends up growing government at the expense of our economy?

Take a good look at your leaders, South Carolina, because once again they’re telling you that they know how to spend your increasingly hard-earned money better than you do - despite all evidence to the contrary.

SIC,

What are OUR legislators THINKING?? This charade and ponzi scheme has gone on long ENOUGH…

I have three PILLARS

1) Energy from trash
2) Energy from Wind

By just saying on July 29th, 2008 at 6:33 pm

where are the new governmental programs you rail against? Sounds like someone is just trying to do something to jump start the economy. If the Governor is not willing I’m glad someone is. Maybe you should mention his abysmal record of job creatlon, his lack of leadership (hurting) energy production, and screw up at the port.
Sounds like those four horseman ate trying to pull the economic wagon while you and our gov do nothing at rage at the machine.

Phillip-

Take some medicine.

JS-

We concur with much of what you say about Sanford, and in particular his lack of leadership on port issues - which we reiterated as recently as two days ago.

As for “someone just trying to do something,” it’s funny how that’s commendable when it relates to something that grows government, but a vast out-of-state conspiracy when it has something to do with putting more money into people’s pockets or - God forbid - giving a parent a choice.

These guys can play with their little hydrogen-powered pillars of bureaucracy all day long for all we care, but the only way we’re ever going to create jobs en masse in this state is to create a tax climate that encourages their creation.

Sanford sucks at advancing that basic idea, we’ll grant you that, but blaming him because our taxes didn’t get cut is like blaming the Polish Army for the Warsaw Ghetto.

Philip,

People are afraid of you. You do more to hurt the cause of energy conservation than Dick Cheney, the Nation of India, and Jake Knotts combined.

You never say anything that makes any sense. You just quote websites that you would presumably profit from if anyone could UNDERSTAND what the FUCK you are TALKING about.

Seriously man, get a grip. Honestly, people laugh at you. Constantly. Seriously. I have made friends just talking about what a crazy person you are.

By just saying on July 29th, 2008 at 9:04 pm

fits,

I agree do something first then do more. I want choice to give businesses an educated work force, tax reform for a conducive business climate and a productive port to attract commerce. However, those wishes don’t preclude getting our business leaderrs in a room to join forces and use the tools they have today. Otherwise we sound like the Greenie’s who blast drilling because it won’t bear results tomorrow and in 10 years wonder why we didn’t do something 10 years ago.

By SumterStreetBoyz on July 29th, 2008 at 9:12 pm

This is a joke. This should be exhibit A in all Term Limits presentations.

I can’t believe Republicans have 3 government departments as the footing of their “pillars of success”.

These guys are Democrats in disguise. Embarrassing when you really think about it … just incumbents disguised as Democrats but with a little (r) behind their names.

Sooner or later (probably sooner) the people will see through this charade and vote real democrats in office . . . then we’re truly f’d. I’d rather that day come sooner, so when the next election cycle rolls around real Republicans can ride into office.

Joshua Gross… quit posing as Philip Branton and get a life man. This stuff might be cool in California, but we’re on the other side of the map.

Really……..?

I want people to read and think for themselves….when they do …..their blood will BOIL !!

OUR own newspapers are public enemy #1………

People undersrtand the roadsigns for South of the Border…I’m sure they find my sledgehammer for ALL officials in OUR state quite AMUSING ….and TRUTHFUL !!

I care about ALL South Carolinians opinions and thoughts …especially the 70% that DON’T ..vote!

The way I write is the way I think…GOOD or BAD? Its more insightfulness than you get from anyone in OFFICE.

Hopefully …My thoughts will be READ and then be READ again and spoken with a tone of PATTON for humor, while on the TOILET !!

We deserve ..ETHICAL….MORAL….TAXPAYER FIRST ….LEADERSHIP!

CRAZY..?? Maybe ….but no more so than the fine citizens of OUR STATE that DON’T vote or who are clueless due to the LACK of truth in OUR NEWSPAPERS…!!!

A Republican economic “plan” built on government agencies…

A Republican Senate finance chairman who has publicly stated that tax cuts don’t spur growth, and that the government “needs that money” to promote economic development…

Depressing…truly depressing.

@ Phillip Branton

“The way I write is the way I think…GOOD or BAD?”

Bad. If you think like you write, then you are probably manic-depressive, or at least on a lot of cocaine.
