The Hotline Needs A Chill Pill
LOS ANGELES IS STILL STANDING PEOPLE
FITSNews – July 29, 2008 – We’re typically pleased to receive e-mail updates from our buds over at SC Hotline. They’re chock full of interesting tidbits about what’s going down in the down syndrome homoerotic monkeyfuck that is South Carolina politics, and if you’re not already on their e-mail list you really should be.
Of course, we were a bit surprised to receive a blaring missive from Hotline founder Jeffrey Sewell a minute ago alerting us to the fact that an earthquake just hit Los Angeles.
Jeffrey, Jeffrey … it was friggin’ 5.8 on the Richter scale. Which is the seismic equivalent of a whale farting. Or a really fat person rolling over in bed.
Here at FITSNews, we promise not to bother you unless the whole friggin’ state of California actually falls off the continent and into the ocean, which coincidentally Sen. John McCain says would dramatically improve his electoral math … at least when we imagine funny things that we wish presidential candidates would say.
UPDATE – In honor of L.A. still being there, though, we do hope you’ll enjoy Frank Black’s alt-rock classic “Los Angeles,” off his eponymous 1993 debut album.

Baker-
The entire album is one of those rare gems that not a lot of people know about. A true masterpiece, as good or better in our humble opinion as anything BF/ FB did with the Pixies.

I whole-heartedly agree.
Here’s a nice acoustic number from that album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7luhkWqfOY
People seemed to respond better to Teenager of the Year, a record with some outstanding moments, but I think the one you cite here is more intriguing.
