SC “So Gay” Ads Already Paid For …

… AND STILL UP

FITSNews - July 28, 2008 - Two weeks after state tourism officials fired a low-level scapegoat and categorically “refused to pay” for ads promoting South Carolina as a travel destination for homosexuals, the controversial ads remain up and the company which ran the campaign has confirmed receiving payment for them.

From Gay Wired:

According to the chief executive of Amro Worldwide, Andrew Roberts, his company (has) been paid in full for the campaign. Last week, both politicians and official in the State capital Columbia publicly said that the bill of just under $5,000 would not be paid.

“Amro Worldwide has received full payment from the London representatives of SCPRT, a company called Travel and Tourism Marketing—TTM World—who have acted in the utmost good faith at every stage in the advertising approval process,” said Roberts.

We’ve already weighed in with our thoughts on the whole “So Gay” flap, but needless to say South Carolina has screwed the pooch in every way imaginable on this one.  Gay tourists spend upwards of $700 million in America, and hanging out a “not welcome” sign to that kind of revenue is just retarded - no matter what you think of homos.

Additionally, it’s pretty clear at this point that our state’s tourism officials have completely misled the public - not only about how this account came to be, but how it was supposedly terminated as well.

What?! You mean Fogle’s FOIA requests didn’t uncover this information first?

Close the ports and block the roads! And for the love of Christ, cover your assholes!

sic(k) willie shows ignorance again when he says “gay tourists spend upwards of $700 million in America.”

That’s nothing! What ignorance!

We have five gay and lesbian BIN News team members who spend that much in the Vista each weekend. BIN News doesn’t have any transgendered staff at present, but we have a few staff openings.

sic(k) willie has no clue what $1 million looks like much less $700 million. What ignorance. Pure scam.

So what we’re saying is:

1) Tourism is our #1 industry.
2) Dollars, Pounds, Euros, Yen, Yuan or whatever spend the same whether you are gay or not.
3) The economy is slowing, and
4) we don’t want your damned gay money.

Brilliant, people. Brilliant. Way to go reactionaries.
