Another S.C. Elected Official Slams Obama?
SENATOR KEVIN BRYANT’S BLOG POST DRAWS THE IRE OF HIS DEMOCRATIC COLLEAGUES
FITSNews – July 22, 2008 – Three months ago, a racist flier featuring Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama was photographed by a FITSNews’ staffer on the desk of a certain South Carolina Representative.
Last week, an editor at the Palmetto State’s largest newspaper compared parental choice supporter (and Manhattan native) Howie Rich to terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden – a quickly-retracted smear that came right around the time the New Yorker ran its controversial cartoon cover of Obama and his wife Michelle decked out in Osama-style jihadist chic.
Now we have S.C. Senator Kevin Bryant, who is coming under fire from South Carolina Democrats for a controversial Obama-Osama image (pictured above ) that appeared last Friday on his staunchly conservative Blog From the Back Bench.
Seriously, people … what gives with this Osama-Obama fetish? Yes, it’s alliteratively available. And yes both names rhyme (even when you reverse them). And yes their proximity of pronunciation reinforces one of the main lines of Republican attack against Obama – namely that he’s supposedly weaker than McCain when it comes to getting out there and kicking some serious Osama ass.
But we still don’t think it’s right to compare any American – even a hopelessly misguided tax and spend liberal like Obama – to somebody who lives and breathes only to kill all Americans. Obama sucks, to be sure, but South Carolina Republicans need to figure out smarter ways of debunking his asinine plans than comparing him to a notorious mass murderer.

This type of thing is like the “poop joke” of politics. I take that back….because even the most sophisticated consumer of humor can appreciate a good poop joke. The people who think this is meaningful in any way, in addition to have the IQ of a rutabaga, would be anti-Obama anyway. Anyone with common sense knows this is part of diplomacy. Anyone with a lick of sense knows that it is sometimes considered respectful to adopt some of the customs/garb of those you visit. Why else would Ted Kennedy get so drunk whenever he traveled to Ireland, home of his ancestors!
Any Republican worth his salt can name 5 TRUE policy differences….with specifics (no vagaries)….that make him dislike Obama. Ditto for any Democrat worth his salt and McCain. If you can’t….you’re a hyper-partisan hack and you should just admit that you won’t vote for Obama/McCain because he’s of the “wrong” party.

Obama once dressed in native garb when visiting the homeland of his father and his last name isn’t that far off from the English version of the first name of the man who organized the murder of 3000 people on 9/11! Oh yeah, and his middle name is the same as the last name of an evil tyrant we just deposed!” and Democrats ought to be better than, “McCain is Bush! McCain is Bush!!!!! eleventy!one!111!!” (if you think McCain’s policy stances that he shares with Bush are wrong, say so….but be prepared to say why his differences with Bush are also wrong….or don’t make up for the policy overlap between the two….in short….make it about McCain).
Will any of that happen? No. Will we continue to see “Obama is a secret turrist!” propaganda and, “McCain is Bush!” propaganda? Of course…..but we should all know better (hey, on the McCain side, at least it isn’t the “McCain has a black baby!” and “McCain is the Manchurian candidate!” crap he faced in the 2000 primary).

Please. Nobody with any credibility is accusing Obama of being an actual terrorist.
It is undeniable, however, that Barack’s lightweight foreign policy entails the treatment of rogue nations/terrorist states as equals rather than enemies. This poorly considered position would make his White House, in a sense, more “friendly” than the current administration.
Politics wasn’t meant for thin-skinned weenies. If the Barack Obama whiners can’t stand the satirical heat, then they need to get out of the electoral kitchen.

First of all, I’ve given to Marshall Meadors and now I will be glad to do it again. I am undecided on the Presidential Election, but there is no room for this tasteless name calling in South Carolina. From what I’ve been told, Meadors actually has a shot at this thing, even in BF’ed Anderson County.

Meadors has more than just a shot at this. He is actually a very formidable opponent with an extremely well organized team at his disposal. District 3 is actually, to borrow from other posts here, more purple than most think or are willing to give credit to.
The Dems will likely pull this one off. Who knows – it might even wake up the State GOP; alert them to the nutball establishment that has taken over the local Republican Party in Anderson.
