SENATOR KEVIN BRYANT’S BLOG POST DRAWS THE IRE OF HIS DEMOCRATIC COLLEAGUES
FITSNews – July 22, 2008 – Three months ago, a racist flier featuring Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama was photographed by a FITSNews’ staffer on the desk of a certain South Carolina Representative.
Last week, an editor at the Palmetto State’s largest newspaper compared parental choice supporter (and Manhattan native) Howie Rich to terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden – a quickly-retracted smear that came right around the time the New Yorker ran its controversial cartoon cover of Obama and his wife Michelle decked out in Osama-style jihadist chic.
Now we have S.C. Senator Kevin Bryant, who is coming under fire from South Carolina Democrats for a controversial Obama-Osama image (pictured above ) that appeared last Friday on his staunchly conservative Blog From the Back Bench.
Seriously, people … what gives with this Osama-Obama fetish? Yes, it’s alliteratively available. And yes both names rhyme (even when you reverse them). And yes their proximity of pronunciation reinforces one of the main lines of Republican attack against Obama – namely that he’s supposedly weaker than McCain when it comes to getting out there and kicking some serious Osama ass.
But we still don’t think it’s right to compare any American – even a hopelessly misguided tax and spend liberal like Obama – to somebody who lives and breathes only to kill all Americans. Obama sucks, to be sure, but South Carolina Republicans need to figure out smarter ways of debunking his asinine plans than comparing him to a notorious mass murderer.
