LEDGER BUZZ FUELS $155 MILLION WEEKEND OPENING

FITSNews - July 21, 2008 - Fueled almost exclusively by the Oscar buzz surrounding the late Heath Ledger’s portrayal of The Joker, the newest Batman epic “The Dark Knight” broke box office records over the weekend, taking in an estimated $155 million during its first three days of release.

The previous record of $151 million was held by Spider Man 3, which set the mark last year.

Amazingly, we have yet to hear from Mande about how this stellar opening weekend jives with her theory that our nation’s economic hard times aren’t as hard as we think they are (a theory brazenly co-opted by the McCain presidential campaign), nor have we heard from our official reviewer DJ Slick as to whether or not the flic is as bas ass as it looks.

Of course, the one person we have heard from Sic Willie, who says the Dark Knight’s stellar opening is conclusive proof that Maggie Gyllenhaal is, in fact, hot.
