And They Say FOX News Is Conservative?
APPARENTLY NOT ON IMMIGRATION REFORM
By Mande Wilkes
FITSNews - July 15, 2008 - Yesterday afternoon on FOX News, during a discussion about illegal immigrants and education, this caption flashed at the bottom of the screen:
“ILLEGAL STUDENTS: SHOULD THEY BE ABLE TO STAY AFTER GRADUATION?”
Wait a minute - isn’t this the television station that’s incessantly bemoaned by liberals for its conservative bias?
Perhaps that’s just the problem: The common sense bar has been lowered even for genuinely conservative media outlets, and to such an extent that FOX doesn’t think twice about choosing a decidedly liberal angle for a very important conservative issue.
To FOX - and undoubtedly to many of its viewers - the question is no longer whether illegal immigrants should be in the U.S. at all, nor whether those who are here should receive the benefit of our education system.
Apparently those are inquiries from a bygone era, questions that have already been addressed with a resounding pro-amnesty answer.
With its caption, FOX News marked the conservative shift from “should they be here?” to “should we educate them?” to “should we let them stay after they’ve been educated?”
Put another way - there ain’t nowhere to go from here, except to formally do away with all those pesky immigration laws that just sit gratuitously on our books … unused, unwanted and certainly unenforced.
Maybe the worst thing about FOX’s caption - and what it signifies - is that there’s really only one way to answer the question.
Now that we’ve been duped into letting illegals in, letting them stay, and educating them, it seems sort of preposterous to send ‘em packing just when they’ve ripened from third-world illiterates to first-world college graduates.
Seriously, we’re going to feed them, employ them, educate them, and then deport them, so that they can use American money and American degrees to benefit another country ?
Sheez …

i dont think that one stupid topic will make liberals flock to fox news. i do think that we should do whatever it takes to get them over here LEGALLY so we can boost the economy with more people spending money, but if they are over here illegally, we have to do more than just send them back. there should be some kind of sever punishment that follows crossing the border.

It’s a question, not an opinion. I do not get my news from FOX News and want to secure our borders as much as the next guy, but even I can tell that they’re just trying to foster a debate on the issue. I apologize if you only want one side to every issue, but I would atleast like to know the other group’s opinion in order to refute it.
Sheez is right…

As much as I hate to say it, you’re right. The problem is “what is the next law” we’re not going to enforce? Rape, murder, oh wait, they don’t provide inflated profits for business and business owners may be adversely impacted. While an increase in high technology visa’s will help move our country into the 22nd century, we have enough dumbasses born and bred in this country to pick the crops or fuel the needs of McDonalds. We just need to elimenate the idea that low skilled labor is the way to go. I want people that will help America succeed and want to fully join this teeming mass of humanity called America. Not a bunch of whiners crying about having to learn english and anyway we don’t want to become Americans, we’re mexicans and we’re going home after we’ve bankrupted this country.

We have to stop this inane chatter about what is “conservative” and what is “liberal”. Most issues do not fit neatly into some sort of two party brand.
We need to focus on what is best for the American people and use the Constitution as our road map and also enforce the dam laws we have on the books or change them .

Welp, Fox News had it as a caption - end of discussion. Mande, it is worth discussing, but “liberal” scumbag outlets have more ‘conservative’ oriented questions postulated at times and as a flaming pink-o commie who love to burn the flag I don’t think “….ahhhh it’s over, let’s hook a GPS to U.S. citizens spinal cord to make the country marginally safer from terrorism.” You really shouldn’t be too aghast, this should fall under the “big whoop” category.

rick, Let me guess… You fully supported the SC immigration reform fraud. You probably love the SeƱor Senator Graham and Juan McCain. And, horror of horrors, you lost the Bill Amick account, but now you’re consulting for Farm Bureau national.
It’s AMNESTY, people! Even labor unions are better than this brand of “free trade”. Stop Amnesty. Don’t vote for Grahamnesty.

#5 - You Got It Right.
Politics in this country has become nothing more than Branding. The media, the campaigns, the parties and anybody else that derives power, money or notoriety from the political process, invent the slogans and the imaging.
Meanwhile, the posturing and sloganism polarizes people into a mindset that says, “Well, if I’m for you, I must be against the other guy.”
Is it heresy to appreciate a Republican idea in one area and a Democrat approach in another? Not for me. Get rid of the aisles in Congress and get down to solutions no matter who comes up with them.

It’s the wrong question. The right question is “when do we send them packing?”

Aw Tim, evidently you’ve received your education from the government schools, and as a result are unable to absorb the information, thusly making it increasingly difficult to think clearly. I want no illegal immigrants in this country. I want a limited number of low wage immigrants in this country. I do want the best and brightest of every nation to join this teeming mess we call America. I want our country to last for thousands of years. No one throughout history has offered so much to so many, with the admission cost of “just doing your best, and becoming a part of this society”. Tim, since you’re a product of this school system, you should be aware (given that someone has read this to you) of the dumbass rate in this state and as time and technology needs are increased, the needs for your low cost, low speed, high drag ass will be limited to cleaning chickens. With a graduation rate at an astounding 50% for South Carolina, even you should recognize that the future of this country is in technology and that we’re happily breeding and supplying the other end of the wage spectrum thus we need little in the way of cheap low skilled foreign labor. Lets face it Tim, with such as you available, the need for chicken cleaners can come home again.
