UPSTATE SENATOR DOESN’T WANT SOUTH CAROLINA TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF HOMOSEXUAL TOURISTS

FITSNews – July 11, 2008 – Believe it or not (and our guess is you won’t have a hard time believing it), it looks like South Carolina’s got another national embarrassment looming on the horizon. That’s because Upstate S.C. Sen. David Thomas wants to audit the state’s official tourism agency for – gasp – marketing our state to gay people.

According to the website Palmetto Scoop, Thomas and several of his fellow Bible-thumping knuckledraggers in the General Ass-embly are up in arms over the fact that taxpayer dollars were used to participate in a homosexual-themed tourism marketing campaign called “So Gay.”

Now we’re all about making fun of gay people here at FITSNews … but it turns out we’re also all about making fun of straight people, too. What can we say, we’re Solomon-esque.

On fiscal matters, we feel obligated to remind you that Sen. Thomas is as liberal as they come, routinely allowing left-wing out-of-state interests to control his Senate banking committee. But when it comes to ejaculating the Bob Jones University crowd with a bunch of mindless social conservative bullshit, Thomas is a self-proclaimed “proven conservative champion.”

Anyway, here’s what we learned from the Scoop:

… the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism — a state agency overseen by the Gov. Mark Sanford’s office — is spending an undisclosed amount of its nearly $14 million advertising budget to take part in the “So Gay” campaign, an effort launched in London, England, by the gay marketing agency “Out Now” to lure homosexual tourists to South Carolina and five U.S. cities.

Out Now is dubbing it “the gayest ever mainstream media advertising campaign” in London.

“South Carolinians will be irate when they learn their hard earned tax dollars are being spent to advertise our state as ’so gay,’” Sen. David Thomas (R-Greenville) told The Palmetto Scoop. “South Carolina is a wonderful, family friendly destination not a Southern version of San Francisco. This campaign goes against our core values.”

Thomas said he would be calling for a comprehensive audit of PRT, an agency in the governor’s cabinet.

State Rep. Greg Delleney (R-Chester), echoed Thomas’ concerns, citing questions over “whether or not the governor or anyone in charge at PRT authorized this expenditure.”

“It’s simply unbelievable that PRT would be using our tax money to promote the homosexual lifestyle,” said Delleney.

Nice work, inbreds. Seriously, you in particular, Sen. Thomas, should get a medal for how far apart your eyes are from each other.

Of course, it’s not like South Carolina lawmakers wanting our state’s citizens to lose money was any big secret.

They proved that pretty conclusively when they cut $11 million from PRT’s marketing budget so they could continue funding their pet project slush fund.

We hope Gov. Mark Sanford will tell Thomas and Delleney to go and “perform the abominable act of buggery” on one another for being this retarded, but our guess is he caves and joins the right wing wackos in cutting the program.

We’ll see …

UPDATE – Well what do you know … La Socialista is reporting this morning that the governor and his tourism director have decided to “not pay” for the campaign, which was scheduled to cost $4,942.

sic(K) willie starts his latest hypocritical post with reverence to BIN. We appreciate his opening: “Believe it or not…” Honest and responsible readers of this blog choose not to believe sic(k) willie.

Rather, readers visit to laugh at sic(k) willie’s childishness and to get away with viewing his soft core porn.

Burn them at the stake…..the politicians of course. Who cares? While we worry about the rights of child rapists and old Mr. Johnson’s receiving Hustler in the mail, Our politicians are worried that a group of men and women will have sex behind closed doors. While I have no interest in that particular lifesyle and consider it a waste of a perfectly good female, we are a nation that should be preserving the rights of the individual as long as it is within the bounds of our laws. And so I hope we don’t invite the government into our bedrooms.

The point is the hypocrisy. Many evangelicals are likely to lean toward Obama. Why? Because they HATE—yes, they are haters—fiscal conservatism. Huckabee says we must do away with the term “fiscal conservatism” and replace it with “Christian conservatism”. That’s why Sen. Thomas, the Señor Sen. Graham, and all of the GOP legislators are such corrupt big government tax-and-spenders… bigger than the Dems! At least most Dems only have one bad issue—the gambling industry, the education bureaucracy, or some bullsh*t pork. Imagine if the Dems controlled the SC statehouse—and it would take blue dog Dems to actually be able to do that (win elections, that is). Could spending actually be worse than it is now?

I thought David Thomas was gay! So am I wrong. No one who has a hairdo like that is straight.

Our Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department came to Amro expressing a desire to have the state featured in the campaign.

Johnson told me, “In fact, the CEO of Amro Wordwide was hosted as a guest of the SCPRT in April as they approached us wanting to join this campaign
