La Socialista’s Double Standard

MAINSTREAM MEDIA’S TWO-FACED TREATMENT OF THE BLOGS

FITSNews - July 11, 2008 - Back when current educrat lobbyist Ross Shealy started anonymously blogging his vitriol against school choice supporters three years ago, The State newspaper vigorously protected his identity.  And while Sic Willie eventually outed Shealy (like he’s outed several left and right-wing bloggers since), The State did everything within its power to keep Shealy’s authorship of the anti-school choice propaganda from being exposed.

So … that’s how the paper treats liberal blogs, but how does it treat conservative ones?

Well, in the case of The Pulse of Columbia - a local conservative blog focused on city government issues - The State not only failed to protect the authors’ anonymity, they actually published a story this morning exposing their identity, questioning their tactics and describing the site as having “attacked the city’s leadership and stirred political controversy for nearly a year.”

Let’s be clear - we can’t think of anything that interests us any less than city government in Columbia, S.C. In fact, we’re pretty sure there are power struggles going on deep within ant hills in our backyard that are much more important.

Having said that, though, we do care about holding the mainstream press up to the magnifying glass, and once again, The State is showing its true colors.

Basically, if you’re anonymously pimping the left’s agenda of big government, they’ll protect you from being exposed.  But if you’re a conservative anonymously speaking out against waste in government, they’ll rat your ass out on the front page.

Yup … that’s why we call them La Socialista

If the City of Columbia were run by white people, the State, and the law would be all over them.

People should be going to jail.

FITS, I jus want to note for the record that despite being a more liberal or at least left leaning blog. Notverybright, was never quoted by the state because it was done anonymously and Brad Warthen had this huge stick about anonymous vs. attributed blogs and even wrote a piece about how those who weren’t anonymous were “stand up” guys (gal’s?) and his prefrence for such. There was no delination between liberal vs. conservative and I point out ‘notverybright’ as an example - at least one -that I know of.

I, being a moderate am glad that someone is taking on the city. What the hell qualifies Charles Austin to be a City Manager?? He’s a former police chief (mind you b/f that he was head of security @ SC State - not exactly the same as police chief or deputy of a town of 300,000) and he’s a minister. There is no public policy background at all…ZERO. I like Austin well enough personally, but I also like the Chic-Fil-A cow, but I’m not advocating he run the city, or even Chic-Fil-A for that manner. The City’s gig is up, get rid of Austin and bring in a professional and in the next election, let’s send Coble back to his law office full time….PLEASE
