STUDY SHOWS HALLUCINOGENIC CAPS DO A BODY GOOD

FITSNews – July 1, 2008 – In news that will no doubt send Sic Willie flying off to a Laurens County, S.C. cow pasture in no time, the temperamental muse that is “science” has momentarily redeemed itself for that whole gay fruit fly thing by concluding that hallucinogenic mushrooms are, in fact, good for you.

From Reuters:

The “spiritual” effects of psilocybin from so-called sacred mushrooms last for more than a year and may offer a way to help patients with fatal diseases or addictions, U.S. researchers reported on Tuesday …

In 2006, Roland Griffiths of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, and colleagues gave psilocybin to 36 volunteers and asked them how it felt. Most reported having a “mystical” or “spiritual” experience and rated it positively.

More than a year later, most still said the experience increased their sense of well-being or life satisfaction, Griffiths and colleagues report in the Journal of Psychopharmacology.

First of all, where in the hell were we on the day government was handing out free psychedelic shrooms? Seriously, people. That’s a taxpayer investment we’d have wanted in on …

While we’ve never been into the “hard stuff,” we may or may not have dabbled in some caps a time or two hundred. And while it’s true that we swore off all drugs (even alcohol) over two years ago, the fact is that mushrooms pretty much rock out with their cocks out. Unless of course you don’t like bright-colored rainbows, groovy swirling bubbles and feeling ridiculously happy for hours on end.

Having grown up on a Laurens County cow farm, I have one question: Are the shrooms in Laurens better than those in other parts of the state?
