… NOW LET’S ASK THE ELEVENTY KABILLION DOLLAR ANTI-PC QUESTION

FITSNews - June 27, 2008 - So the victorious Barack Obama and the vanquished Hillary Clinton are getting together to show a little Democratic unity … in a town called Unity, no less.

Quick - somebody call Rick James!

But seriously, what is it with Democrats and over-symbolism? Yeah, yeah … we all know Bill Clinton was from “a little place called Hope.” But he was also from a little place called “Hot Springs” … just ask Gennifer Flowers.

Anyway, the goal of all this heart-warming unification is to try and bring in as many of those “bitter” white middle class people who voted for Billary back into the Jesus … sorry … the Obama fold. That way Obama can presumably beat Republican nominee John McCain, who is running like crazy to the middle of the political spectrum in an effort to scoop up as many of those bitter white middle classers as he possibly can.

We hate to break it down this elementally, but in any other year Republicans would get their asses handed to them this November … and according to our own Mande Wilkes they may still get their asses handed to them.

There’s just one “eleventy kabillion dollar question” lurking over all this that nobody seems particularly eager to ask … or answer …

Is white middle class America (and particularly white middle class Democrats south of West Virginia) really ready to vote for a black man as their president?

Sure the concept works in the Fifth Element, but that’s like in the year 2263, people. And everybody’s living in outer space.

As we’ve said in the past, we think it’s sad that anybody would cast their vote for or against somebody because of their skin color, but we think it’s also sad that raising the question seems to be so taboo.

Last time we checked, those West Virginia overall-wearers do have the right to vote for whoever the f*ck they want for whatever reason they choose, don’t they?

And it’s not like Obama isn’t going to pick up a couple votes simply because he’s black.

Why can’t we talk about it? Detectives don’t solve murders by pretending they didn’t happen, nor is America ever going to solve racism by pretending it doesn’t exist in the hearts and minds of a whole helluva lot of voters - many of them white middle class democrats.

Personally, we’re not voting for Obama because the few ideas he’s actually articulated suck, sort of like we’re not voting for McCain because he keeps forgetting what party he’s in.

The fact that one man is white and one man is black doesn’t mean a damn thing to us. Obama could be purple and McCain could be pink (right down to his underwear) and we’d still probably write-in one of Sic Willie’s stuffed animals on our Presidential ballot.

Anyway, let’s talk about it … is America ready for a black president or not? And if so, is Obama that man?

Obama is the best chance our country has had to elect a black president - he is intelligent , well educated and a wonderfully gifted public speaker. I do not agree with any of his politics but if he were fiscally conservative and anti-war I would definitely vote for him regardless of sex or skin color.

But I know many rednecks who wouldn’t vote for him because he is black or as Ralph Nader recently mentioned he is half black.

Personally I still think Obama will win -and that will be a positive event from a race relations standpoint. Obama has a huge break running against McCain - who is not conservative and a war monger - at a time when the nation is sick of a war we can not afford.
Barak beat hillary because of her war vote and her stance on the war - and Barak will beat McCain because McCain is very much a third term for Bush.

You got questions? We got answers. No and No.

I don’t believe that color is as much a factor in the white community as we’re being told it is. I believe in all 3 of the prime cadidates their is little to recommend them. Obuma is a socialist whose never done much with his life except talk and write. His leadership abilities are in question because of issues like” we can’t drill our way out”. Well no, Buttache, but we can drill to replace the oil that we’re now purchasing from the middle east while driving innovative projects to find that most endearing to all liberals hearts, the perfect energy source that will make the flowers grow and birds sing. Don’t hear much creative from either candidate. Tired of hearing about Johnny’s troubles and what a hero he was 35 years ago. The question is “What has he done lately” to make the voters believe in him and whatever his vision is. So the question remains, is it color or do we smell Bull? My guess is Bull. Obuma’s anti-gun, first and second amendment, Chicago anyone? Johnny is anti-1st with a questionable number 2. Lieberman-McCain? I think the public is just plain tired of hearing the same old tired crap and have tuned out, dropped out, and figure their going to get screwed regardless. If you really look at who’s supporting Obuma, you’ll find the same old cast of blowhards from Hollywood, the African American community at large and the youth of today that have an attention span and discernment to match that of a video game. Hey cool, let me pull my pants down and give ya’ll the 4-1-1. Is America ready for a Black President? Only if He or She can convince the electorate that their not the Rev. Jesse, Big Al or Charle. In other words a clean, articulate individual with class and an ability to put a constructive thought together. Not in these two.

BHO will not have won the nomination until it is all said and done in August in Denver. We refuse to accept the Shortchange Option that the media and the DNC has tried to force upon us.

Obama is green, not black. Though intelligent, he is simply the empty vessel into which the manipulative, self-serving “powers that be” [read: Nancy Pelosi, et. al.] wish to POUR THEIR SCHEMES. The Democratic Party is in schizophrenic meltdown if they are unable to grasp this.

Hillary Clinton is qualified and SHOULD BE the next President of the United States of America.

I think the country, and especially this state, is full of people who aren’t ready to vote for a black man for president — or anything else — and won’t ever be. But Obama is the only black politician I’ve ever come across who I think has a chance of pulling it off. Thanks to 8 years of George Bush for that.

7. Negatron - June 27, 2008

He’s not THAT black.

8. South Carolina Is A Very Small Place - June 27, 2008

It’s amazing to me that we’re still debating blackness in our society. In a global population of something like 6.4 billion people, the USA has less than 5% of the earth’s inhabitants…

And if the USA is to restore its reputation in the global arena, which is vital to our economic and political wellbeing, I believe Mr. Obama offers the better chance for success.

But, it is not because he is multi-racial. It is not because he is the currently favored Democrat. And it is not because he is the younger face of the politico scene.

Other nations have discovered what captivates many people in our own nation. Obama is not a new voice, but rather a contemporary voice that brings back dignity to the Average Joe(sephine) tired of being trampled over by corporate culture and trickle-down greed.

Getting people to listen is an art. And the world, will at least listen to Obama. Can McCain say the same?

[...] failed, Obama voted for it - a fact which he incessantly repeats as part of his effort to court Hillary Clinton [...]

I wouldn’t vote for obama no matter what color he was. I WOULD vote for Condoleeza Rice or Colin Powell if they ran because I TRY to vote on policy alone. People who ARE voting for obama simply because of his skin color are akin to those folks who vote for a guy because he’s good-looking. And that does happen.
