Don Imus Strikes Again

A REAFFIRMATION … BUT NOT HOW YOU MIGHT THINK

By Mande Wilkes

FITSNews - June 24, 2008 - “Once you go black you never go back” is true, at least in the sense that once you’re pegged as a racist, every syllable you utter thereafter will be analyzed and parsed and eventually regarded as further evidence of your racism.

Such is the case with Don Imus, who just last year lost his job after making the infamous “nappy headed ho” quip. Yesterday he did it again, and by “it” we mean that he made a comment which - while demonstrative and certainly not totally free from implication - is not likely to become the next KKK mantra.

Behold the exchange between Imus and sportscaster Warner Wolf about NFL star Adam “Pacman” Jones’ lengthy arrest record:

Imus: “What color is he?”

Wolf: “He’s African-American.”

Imus: “Well, there you go. Now we know.”

Now, Imus’ comment (which by all accounts was tinged with sufficient sarcasm so as to denote its true purpose) does demand a double take, but not necessarily because it is inherently blasphemous.

In this world, what causes listeners to balk is the mere mention of the fact that black people (gasp) actually exist. You’re just not allowed to “go there” anymore, especially if you are white and male, and particularly if your previous comments have already been pegged as racist. To be sure, this is pretty much the entire message of the PC battle cry.

Ironically, it appears that Imus has landed himself in this mob lynching by trying to be politically correct! According to him, he was apparently simply referring to the high rate of incarceration among blacks - a claptrap sentiment for sure, but definitely not racist.

In this indignant and ready-to-be-offended world, anyone who is less than cloyingly effusive just can’t win for losing.

In related news, Pacman himself promised to “pray for” Imus, sparking PC backlash from the freedom-from-religion crew. Or, it would have sparked backlash, if only it weren’t racist to demand PC compliance from a black guy.

Equality is equality, people. Love it or leave it …

Imus is an ass. His name should be Don Anus

If a black person said that about white people, he would be off the air in two seconds. If he said it about a Jew, he would be off the air and then get sued for all the money he made while he was on the air. He says that about black people….nothing.

Sure, you hear it on rap all the time. Give me one example of a black getting kicked off the air for saying a racist remark about another race, culture, religion. Blacks are the most disrespectful to their own culture and race of anyone. Clean up your act, those of you that it applies to, before you jump on the Imus bandwagon.

So what he’s racist, now we (black people) know not to invite him to the NAACP awards…

So…Imus’s explanation is the biggest bullshit we’ve ever heard, and we all know what he meant, and it WAS a ridiculously racist comment, but that’s ok because we’re overly sensitive about racist comments? Is that your point? Whatever.
