Rexasaurus Endorses Knotts
WHAT IS ROD SHEALY THINKING?
FITSNews - June 21, 2008 - Let’s face it … it hasn’t been political consultant Rod Shealy’s best election cycle. After a triumphant 2006, Shealy is coming back to earth this year in a big way … a precipitous fall that would be given a king-sized exclamation point should he lose the Senate District 23 runoff election this coming Tuesday.
Already under fire for losing one incumbent Senate race, Shealy’s work on behalf of incumbent State Senator Jake Knotts has similarly left a lot to be desired … if you’re Jake Knotts, anyway. First of all, the legendary consultant’s longtime Lexington County network of educrats and local government officials appears to be crumbling.
Case in point - only fourteen people (including U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson) showed up today at a “get-out-the-vote” rally for Sen. Knotts, hardly the kind of turnout you’d expect for an incumbent less than 72 hours before the polls open.
Then there is “Hot Rod’s” questionable strategy of trying to run Knotts as both a conservative Republican and a Democratic-leaning independent, the result of which has been nothing short of a schizophrenic campaign …
For example, on the same day that Rod is quoted in the newspaper saying that “conservative leaders here in Lexington County are supporting Jake Knotts,” FITSNews has learned that Knotts has received the endorsement of the state’s most liberal politician, Democratic Superintendent of Education Jim Rex.
Rex made the endorsement today via a “robo-call” (or automated phone message) to Lexington County Democrats, urging them to cross over and vote for Knotts in the Republican runoff.
Ironic? Absolutely …
Knotts’ consultant has vigorously attacked other Republicans this year for even a whiff of Democratic affiliation, but now it appears the “cross over” Democratic vote is necessary if the embattled incumbent is to be pulled successfully over the finish line.

This is literally incredible, because if this is true then Jake Knotts could make a lot of money back by suing his consultants for mal practice.
Reason: Is it not true that the ONLY people who can vote in the primary run off are people who initially voted in the orginal primary? I believe it is, and if so there are only a couple of possibilities (1) It is not really true but perhaps “new blurbs” here of an “endorsement” by Rex are hoped to have negative consquences for Knotts in solidly Repbulican Lexington, and the people who paid for these phone call are with Shealy - i.e. push polling in the worst sense.

(2) Knott’s campaign is stupid enough to be campaigning to people who won’t be able to vote?
By Junior on June 21st, 2008 at 6:37 pm
Well, that sums it up for me. Shealy definately has my vote now. This just confirms what was in the back of my mind. Knotts really is a Dem…he has supported Hodges, Tenenbaum, Moore…and now the Dems are coming out to endorse him.

CMIIAWP,
Your first comment made a false assumption that political consultants have a professional standard and code of ethics. Ethics and fiduciary obligation are basically nonexistent in the political arena. Depending on what type of contract is agreed upon by the candidate and consultant, if one exists at all,the contract would set the standard for malpractice by delienating the professional responsibilty and duty of the consultant.
I trust lawyers far more and they are much brighter. Plus, they are actually subject to licensing. Granted there is the State Ethics Commission as a constraint on politics, but everyone in the know laughs at their powers, abilities, and motives.

#1 - You can vote in the runoff even if you didn’t vote in the primaries, that is why primary runoffs are so hard to project
By Correct me if I am wrong please on June 22nd, 2008 at 12:41 am
Yammamoto, do you know about whether or not these new “dems” could even vote in the second election, if not this is just for the sake of scaring people like Junior into voting for Shealy over Knotts
By Hollyville on June 22nd, 2008 at 12:43 am
Actually, to “Correct me if I’m wrong”, anyone can vote in the runoff so long as s/he did not vote in the other party’s primary. So, any registered voter in district 23 who did not vote in the Democratic primary can vote in the runoff on 6/24.
Also, I am a little confused about this claim above:
“Case in point - only fourteen people (including U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson) showed up today at a “get-out-the-vote” rally for Sen. Knotts, hardly the kind of turnout you’d expect for an incumbent less than 72 hours before the polls open.”
There hasn’t actually been a “get out the vote” rally for Senator Knotts yet, and there certainly wasn’t one this morning. There was a meeting of campaign volunteers, and while Congressman Wilson may have arrived after I left, I didn’t see him there. If that’s the meeting to which you were referring, I’m not sure how you got your head count, either.
But, it’s politics, right? Doesn’t really matter if it’s true, so long as someone writes it down and a few other people read it.

Will is making it up. the above commenter is correct in that only Primary voters can make the second trek to the pols. of course…no proof, no accountability, like he pleads for in our education system, is the rule of thumb on this website.
Unfortunately, I like accountability and proof in my education and government. However, soulless hypocrites don’t advance the ball much in this game.
Will engages in the same muck that he derides…
By John Dastard on June 22nd, 2008 at 9:56 am
Stroker Ace is right. Anyone who didn’t vote in the first primary can vote in the runoff. Also, those who did vote in the primary can only vote in the runoff of the party for which they originally voted.

Good Lord! The poll numbers must really be going south for Jakie.
By Dorchester Today on June 22nd, 2008 at 10:12 am
By the way Rod has already lost two incumbent Senate races…in additon to Ceips, he also lost Randy Scott’s…well Scott may have drank himself out of the race, but it still counts.
By Bill on June 22nd, 2008 at 10:23 am
I’m voting for Katrina Shealy.
Jakie Knotts and his muckraking campaign manager Rod Shealy are stooping to an all-time new low, by briefly flashing her divorce papers on our TV screens and trying to make us believe Katrina Shealy was really being sued for something. Its time for Jake to GO!
What ever happened to all the assets of Boss Bull’s pawn shop business when Boss died? Jake was supposed to auction it off locally. None of us has ever found out what Jake did with all that stuff. Only Jake knows. Where is it Jake? And where did all of Boss’s assets go? Its time for Jake to GO!
Jake Knotts obstructed good pro-gun legislation [see the video at http://www.SCFirearms.org and then teamed up with the most anti-gun liberal Democrat in the Senate (Sen. Ralph Anderson, D-7 Greenville) to write an amendment that would GUT the bill. Its time for Jake to GO!
Jake Knotts opposes all of Governor Sanford’s attempts to hold the line against PORK and the unrestrained growth of SC government. Its time for Jake to GO!
Jake Knotts obstructs DUI reform. Its time for Jake to GO!
Jake Knotts votes FOR spending our tax dollars on stupid PORK projects like green bean museums and balloon festivals. Its time for Jake to GO!
Republican Jake Knotts supported democrats for Governor just because he hates Sanford so bad he can’t see straight. Is that what Ronald Reagan would do? Jake violates Reagan’s 11th commandment. Its time for Jake to GO!
Katrina Shealy will work FOR the people of Lexington County, not AGAINST them as Jake has been doing. The State (run by liberals from up north) backs Jake. This way they’d get a pseudo-Democrat in November if he were to win the runoff.
He won’t.
Its time for Jake to GO!
By Rando on June 22nd, 2008 at 11:46 am
Anyone that did not vote originally can cast a vote in this election .Plus those that voted in the Republican Primary before. Now is the time to bring out all the dead, sick and nursing home residents for Jakie I guess.
By Down with Knotts on June 22nd, 2008 at 3:24 pm
This would really be the icing on the cake, if Knotts goes down. Sellout Republicans need to pay a price. Does anyone know why Maurice Bessinger is still supporting Jake? Talk about artificial populist grandstanding…
By Guero on June 22nd, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Ms. Shealy was sued for divorce by her husband on the grounds of adultery. She answered by saying you reconciled with me and legally forgave me, “condoning” my adultery. Her ex-husband responded by saying I forgave you the first adulterous relationship but not the second and third.
She also lost custody of her kids, something close to impossible for a mother in South Carolina unless she is seriously challenged as a mother.
I’d say Jakie has proven her lack of moral standards.
As far as Boss Bull goes, if Jakie had done anything improper with the assets, he could have very easily have been summoned into court by the probate court to explain himself under oath and/or arrested for breach of trust. Neither of these events occurred. I’d call bullsh#t on the Boss Bull allegations.
By Putting My Faith In Katrina Shealy on June 22nd, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Knotts’ tongue is set on fire of hell — he has no business representing the people of South Carolina. Knotts belongs in the slammer along with his partners in crime — the other kingpins that have been running Lexington County for the past 30+ years. They want control of the state…the country…as much turf as they can swindle. John McCain is their ticket to ride to DC.
Knotts has to go. One way or the other. What little conscience “The State” newspaper had left has been seared to smithereens with a red-hot bully stick.
‘Wrecked the paper, closed the school…tired old judge got roughed up too.’ [John Fogerty/Revival/Gunslinger 2007]

Custody of her kids? She only has one daugher and she’s in her 30’s! I find it hard to believe she lost custody of a 25 yrd old.. but that’s just me. Not to mention her ONE daughter is from her first marraige. Are you trying to infer that Jake has been faithful to his wife? If you are I have some great real estate in the Everglades…
By Truth Seeker on June 22nd, 2008 at 7:44 pm
hey Bill I think you got it wrong, you say
“Katrina Shealy will work FOR the people of Lexington County, not AGAINST them as Jake has been doing. The State (run by liberals from up north) backs Jake. This way they’d get a pseudo-Democrat in November if he were to win the runoff”
Isn’t Katrina’s campaign being funded by Libeterians from up North posing as southerners looking out for you own good. Ask Josh Gross where he is from? Jeff Seawell? They ain’t from around here boys
By JM on June 22nd, 2008 at 7:45 pm
She is an adulterer. As a Christian conservative married and faithful for 25 years I cannot vote for Katrina Shealy.
By Putting My Faith in God and Katrina Shealy. on June 22nd, 2008 at 9:37 pm
JM, if your vote for Jake Knotts is cast in honor of marital fidelity — you are insanely misguided!
Jake Knotts is true to himself, and to the Pitchfork Ben Tillman pledges who still roam South Carolina and continue to wreak havoc. Cast your “fidelity vote” for that fidelity — but it will cost you the continued rape and pillage of the state of South Carolina.
The ‘Redneck Mafia Manifesto’ is unwritten but operational in Lexington County and beyond…

And Moses read God’s words, but they fell on the deaf ears of Katrina Shealy. If she cannot follow God’s rules, she certainly cannot handle the evils of vice that the political world is today.

Interesting how sic(k) willie has turned on Rod. Particularly in light of how Rod once hired him as a mudslinger for TRav’s campaign. Rod was willing to give willie another chance after his conviction.
In the words of The Raven: “…never more…”
Perhaps we should all remember another quote: ‘there is no honor among thieves or political consultants or voucher scam supporters.’
We may not have remembered that one exactly, but it’s something like that. At least, we’re sure that was the intended meaning.
Have you heard the radio spots by Joe “Mr. Republican” Wilson that endorse Jakie as a REAL Republican?! Watch your backsides sic(k) one. The Boyz from Charlotte may have reinforcements.
By Shealy Family Member on June 23rd, 2008 at 5:32 am
Let’s set the record Straight JM. Katrina and her husband were seperated for a while and the circumstances although not what Knotts would have you believe are personal and private matters between husband and wife. There are always 2 sides to every story. After living apart for a while and going to CHRISTIAN counsuling they reconciled and have been happier than I have ever seen two people. They go and do everything together. As for the “untruth” about where she lives they do own 2 homes and they have been trying since last October to get the tax informaiton corrected. The records of that are in the Treasurers office in Lexington but I am certain Knotts would never bring that up. Knotts owns about 4 homes in Lexington County…does that mean he is lying about where he lives??
But, JM, being the CHRISTIAN conservative that you are I can certainly understand your support of Knotts who has had a string of “girlfriends” over the years the latest being from Santee. It is said they even have pictures of the two of them in his hot tub and at his Marital home while his wife was at their beach home. He is also know to be a frequent visitor of a houseboat on Lake Murray called “The Homewrecker” I actually think he and his wife might do this one together. You should check this out. I hear they throw one heck of a sex and drug party.
I can bet that Shealy has seriously considered removing the “He’s a Fine Man” comment from her Ad. But she wouldn’t stoop so low as to call him what he really is.
So JM you go ahead and do the CHRISTIAN conservative thing and vote for Knotts. I’m sure you will be blessed for that.

This is great stuff, while “Correct Me If I Am Wrong” is in need of correcting, it is true that you can’t vote in the GOP primary if you previously voted in the Democrats primay.
BUT are we really supposed to believe that in one of the most Republican counties in the state this “Rex” endorsement phone call was supposed to do anything other than galvanize Republicans AGAINST Knotts. That is, unless the absolute brainiacs running Knott’s camapaing thought “Hey, these ‘democrats’ didn’t even care enough to get out and go vote in their OWN primary, but hell, they will come out in droves to vote in a run-off, esp. one that is for the opposing party.”
Ummmm-K. This sounds like a robo-call that would have been made essentially for the purpose of having a “news” story written about it on say…FITS news?
By Darrell Wallace on June 23rd, 2008 at 10:03 am
Demos, Repubs, who knows what will run as either. Frankly, in Columbia we need some Constitutionalists, both State and National.
We are supposed to be a nation of laws so let’s elect third party candidates who will really uphold our State and Federal Laws, according to the Constitution.
Find out who they are and elect them. They are not good old boy politicians, but true patriotic Americans.

If you want your property taxes to leave public schools and give the rich peoples children $4,000 a child per year tax break on their property taxes . Then you need to vote for Katrina Shealy. You will take the money from your childrens school and give it to them. Most of the time our Org. is against Jake, but I would reather have Knotts instead of Shealy. http://www.stoptax.org

Shealy is going down. Just got robo-call from another statewide elected official urging me to vote for KNOTTS. I am voting for Knotts.
Tomorrow is going to be another sad day on the Guv’s side. Why does he not just resign. Talk about a waste of time and money.
Maybe Sanford will move back to Florida as I hear the Guv position will beb open there in a few months.
By Carl on June 23rd, 2008 at 7:05 pm
#29 Can you be more of an idiot? It is not a tax for the rich. It is a tax incentive for children who have autism, dyslexia, ADD, and other issues that hinder them from keeping up in public schools. Yes, it would also benefit those that exceptionally smart that may need to be challenged more. The school do not lose money from this…if a child was not to go to the public school, all the federal funds stay with the school and some of the state funds…even though the child is not there. Surely those of you at STOP TAX . ORG don’t like paying for things you don’t use. That has been your motto when property tax was such a big issue several years back.
Just saw WIS…Jake flat out lies!! He held up the DUI reform this past year and apparently either didn’t vote for it or held it up in the past.
#33 Another genius…the Guv for the past few years has been stopping on little peons like you. If he doesn’t get you one year, he’ll get you the next!
