FITSNews – June 18, 2008 – An international survey has revealed that the worldwide opinion of Barack Obama is very similar to our domestic opinion – namely, that he is the freakin’ messiah.

Virtually untested in foreign policy matters, the world has faith in Obama despite of – or maybe because of – his amateur status. Of the 24 nations surveyed, 21 believe that Obama, not GOP nominee John McCain, will “do the right thing regarding world affairs.”

Though the world has obviously thrown its weight behind Obama, the truth is it’s just ready for some new blood in the White House, as twenty of the countries surveyed said that a new president will positively impact world affairs.

Internationally, people hope that a new president will focus on energy and environmental reforms, a more lenient foreign policy, and an end to the Iraq War. The Iraq issue is where Obama shines, giving the world hope that the war will finally come to a close … of course domestically attention has shifted from the war to the economy.

Not surprisingly, Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon were the only countries that worry that American foreign policy will suffer after a new president takes office. This Arab concern comes from McCain’s demonstrated tough stance on American military involvement abroad.

The trend toward Obama was especially strong in Europe, where George W. Bush recently wrapped up a farewell tour. Europeans – and especially the French – are apparently welcoming the end of Bush’s tenure.

Eighty-four percent of French survey respondents said that they were very confident or somewhat confident that Obama will do the right thing, compared to just 13% for Bush.

UPDATE – In related news, 100% of French people say that mayonnaise will always “do the right thing.” Mmmmm … mayonnaise.

Polls are a joke. I want an end to the Iraq war, as does even the most rabid neocon. The problem is that their are two ways to end a war: either you win or you lose. Funny how the poll question does not ask whether the respondents to pick one of these options. I think many of these limp wristed liberals would pick the latter.

Headcheck:

Does the USA really want a president who will roll over and expose his soft underbelly to the rest of the world? I don’t think so PEOPLE!!!!!!!

The Patriot Act grants Bush absolute legal authority to detain anyone he likes…so just secretly declare Obama an enemy combatant, render him off to some CIA jail and then deny it ever happened. Problem solved. Oh wait, we only do that to the poor and powerless. What the hell happened to my country?

By beelzebub on June 18th, 2008 at 10:29 am

I’d like a president that actually knows what is going on in Iraq and doesn’t just go there for a photo op, visit his son, and hang out and smoke hookah with Joe Liebermann.

Oh and I don’t think giving up when you realize there is no benefit to it, is a problem. Do companies keep selling cars that don’t sell? Well guess what guys. The war in Iraq just doesn’t sell. Time to pull it off the line.

Vagabond,

That actually is the most sane and humane solution voiced to date to deal with one of the two UNFIT candidates: McSubversion. Obama is really just a mild case of no see ‘ums compared to McCain.

McCain is the real enemy combatant here — and a despicable excuse for a potential leader of our country. He is sullying the face of the entire US military.

Obuma the media elite choice of milk toast. A mile wide/an inch deep. The product of set asides/Jesse Jackson whining. Listen to this fool and Jimmy Carter looks good. Did anyone hear his speech to Michigan State….service to your country, good for you/bad for me. Gotta love the empty shirt

“McCain is the real enemy combatant here — and a despicable excuse for a potential leader of our country. He is sullying the face of the entire US military.”

That is disgusting. Whether you agree with his politics or not (I am not a fan), he is an American hero who deserves respect.

Curious also that they did not poll our enemies/rivals to see who they want to win. I think we all know what the result of that poll would be.

McCain is not to be trusted. He’s a manipulative sell-out. And his first wife — check into the facts. I just wonder if there is not more to the story about the auto “accident.” I wouldn’t put it past him to have, well, you know……….

His only loyalty is to himself. And I have no respect for him whatsoever.

Sorry!

#11,

McCain was honorable enough to serve his country and endure hellish torture to help ensure that you would have the freedom to spout your bile.

By PatriotsMakingTheirPoint on June 18th, 2008 at 5:04 pm

McCain was indoctrinated with global, communistic mish-mush while he was there — and he is still ‘flicted with it!!!!!!

I am serving my country right now #12 — and you can bet your a55, I have endured hellish torture for it. Button it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

McCain can’t even raise his arm over his head due to the abuse he took, while you clearly are flexible to shove your entire head up your anus. So I think it is a bit silly to compare yourself to him.

Let me guess #13, serving your country gives you a pass on good common sense. Perhaps a return to constitutional rights are in order, remember that bit about freedom of speech, it allows even the lamest, lowest member of the gene pool opportunity to speak.
The only value McMuffin brings to the table is his stance on Global Terrorism, beyond that he’s no different than Hillary or Obuma.

*Rick — I like that moniker! McMuffin! That’s about as handy as he would be at any significant decision-making in Washington.

……………………

*ToySoldier–You are very susceptible to cult indoctrination, as was he.

#17,

I assume you mean McCain, since your post is rather vague on this point. It is also stupid, since I made clear I am not a fan of McCain (see post 9). However, I have a great deal of respect for McCain’s service and the sacrifices he has made for his country.

#20-and-counting,

START A BLOG ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!

We all have the potential to do good or bad based upon circumstances and how we are raised/morals imprinted on us. Senator McMuffin followed the training inculcated upon him all his life. He comes from a military family who taught him from birth about honor/sacrifice for the men he leads. His time and the brutality he endured 30 years ago, while engenders respect, doesn’t give him a pass on decisions he’s made recently. Apples and Oranges people. He went from a “job” that demands honorable service from their leaders to one that has little if any honor. And he has excelled for a great number years in a corrupt, manipulative, dishonest environment. Gee, which McMuffin will stand up if elected.
