NOTES ON THE NEW MEDIA
FITSNews - June 9, 2008 - There’s an interesting story in this morning’s Washington Post about Mayhill Fowler, the 61-year-old South Dakota democratic blogger who has broken two major national stories in her role as a Huffington Post contributor. We’ve never read that Post before, but we’re certainly familiar with some of the stories Fowler has written there - including one back in April that made such national waves that we even picked up on it.
Of course, the mutual admiration between these two liberal Posts doesn’t apply conservative bloggers - who are ostensibly viewed as “angry right wing nuts” compared to the Democrats’ “citizen journalists.” Perhaps that explains why libs have been better able to exploit the web phenomenon (i.e. Daily Kos) than conservatives have - they’ve got the mainstream press fueling their rise.
Anyway, here in South Carolina the blogs are all technically “Republican,” although as we’ve mentioned in the past, being “Republican” isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be here - and most of these blogs have allegiances to the consulting firms that pay their bills.
Speaking of which, one of those blogs is shuttering this week - or at least its publisher is leaving town to accept a job in Atlanta. And while we may detest the shady people who were propping his blog up with ambulance chaser money, we do wish The Shot ’s Tim Cameron the best as he heads out of town. The dude wore flip-flops, people, which means he can’t be all bad.

I’m not one of those bloggers. I just do what the voices in my head tell me to do.

Sic,
Thanks for the well wishes. BTW…I’m wearing my flip-flops as I type this comment.
Sincerely,
